Dude, I remember the existence of Netscape and Dial-Up internet. Now I have the EXTREME ULTIMATE whatever internet package from Rogers. Maximum speed, maximum bandwidth. Oh, and now, a smartphone and an iPad. What more can a girl addicted to the internet ask for?
It’s interesting to watch the internet transform into what it is today. I knew how to type HTML since i was 11 from Geocities and then other various web hosting sites. I remember the first website I ever ever made on Geocities Page builder was a website of Pokemon gifs.
Yeah, that just happened. Then I made a piano sheet music website where I posted transcriptions of popular music. I realize now that probably wasn’t the most legal thing to be doing but it was a popular site and I had managed to make some ad money from it. I was 14 then.
I’ve been on various things after Geocities including Live Journal, Asian Avenue (yes I was that lame), and of course when Myspace was actually viable place to be.
Now, I’m on pretty much every social network out there and run 3 Tumblr blogs, this WordPress site and Ride the Tempo music blog.
The internet has now grown into a fascinating world where it is quick and convenient for anyone, even people who don’t know any coding at all to publish content. Not only can they publish content but they can do it in layouts that are clean and visually appealing. And we can do it on our phones. What’s to come next?
Only time can tell.
