Wreck This Journal #8

More than half of December is already over, and there are still many unfinished pages to go. I think I counted over 90 challenges total and I’m not sure if I even did half that many yet. I want to stick to my goal and finish the entire book of challenges by the end of the year.

I love having someone to go through the adventure with. It makes it that much more entertaining. It also helps to have someone that isn’t as personal attached to the book, who will push you to actually destroy it.

Relationships in the Social Media Age

My best friend and I are both in somewhat new relationships and we have discussions on whether or not we should keep it private in the online world. I have to admit that I made things Facebook official with Nash the moment we started dating. The world knowing wasn’t a problem for us.

I think part of my desire to do this however stemmed from my past relationship with someone who was kind of deviant when it came to online activity. He would hide our relationship, flirt and cheat with girls he had met online. This is the negative aspect of relationships in the social media age. There are just terrible people out there. And the internet only makes cheating easier.

My best friend decided to not make her relationship Facebook Official and she was right to do so. It should be a private affair between two people, and the world doesn’t necessarily need to know, only those you both wish to tell. In addition, If you have any doubt of trust in someone, than you shouldn’t be together in the first place. The people who will cheat online would cheat in real life too.

Everyone doesn’t need to know the second you date, or end a relationship. We all know those people who change their statuses way too often for attention. It’s all personal preference, but not a necessity to decide to make things public.

The more I think about it now, I trust Nash with all my heart and although we’re both highly active in our own online outlets, I know I have nothing to worry about. Whether or not the world knows, shouldn’t affect us either way. We know how important we are to one another.

How do you feel about social media’s effect on relationships? I’d love to hear your stories.

Wreck This Journal #7

I was pretty distracted last week, so I have a ton of journal wrecking to catch up on if I want to finish this thing before the new year. I wanted to draw you something cool with an endless line, but somehow it turned into a some sort of toddler’s attempt to draw turtles. I don’t know what I was thinking.

No, I Don’t Want To Hear Your Sob Story

I don’t know what it is with television, especially reality TV shows that are competitions. X Factor, American Idol, even the various things on the FOOD NETWORK. Why is it that the person with the best SOB story always wins?.

My Irrational Fear of Losing Brain Cells

I’m a giant klutz and the other day I hit my head really hard on the headboard of my bed. Ouch. My next reaction was, “Shit! There goes more brain cells.” Ever since I first learned about the brain in grade 5, I have the fear of one day losing it all and turning stupid.

Bacon Wrapped Chicken

This week I was home alone and I used the chance to experiment in the kitchen. As it approached the end of the week, I realized all that was left in the kitchen was some chicken breasts and bacon. I decided LET’S WRAP THE CHICKEN IN BACON!. So, I did.

Sometimes You Just Need To Nap

Everyone has those days where there is just a ton of things to do but your body has already used it’s energy. I’m sure you’re feeling it now as everyone is trying to frantically finishing what needs to be done before the holidays. We’ve all loaded ourselves with caffeine but you get to a point where eventually there will be a crash.

Whether it’s the 15 minute power nap or just a short snooze, it sometimes can be more effective to give yourself tiny breaks instead of loading yourself on 10 cups of coffee. The caffeine crash can leave you sleeping for hours when it could have been prevented with a tiny nap and be good to go. Learn the 15 minute power nap especially, it can be done in the same time it takes you to make/buy/drink another cup of coffee.

Wreck This Journal #6

I have been a bit distracted this week in terms of finding time to wreck journal. IT WILL BE FINISHED BY THE END OF THIS YEAR I SWEAR.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

I love pulled pork. It’s one of those things I’ll try every time I see it on a menu in a restaurant I haven’t been in. Yesterday, I decided to attempt it to make it myself in a slow cooker and it turned out pretty delicious!

Lost In the Apple Store

Last week was the first time I bought something directly from the Apple Store. Sure I own Apple products: the iPad, countless iPods but I was lucky enough to have been gifted them or have gone to Future Shop.

It was Black Friday and I wanted to buy my sister a Nano and perhaps Apple TV for the parents. However, I felt quite lost and confused. Not to mention clusterphobic.
