There are some weeks (like this one) where I don’t know if I’ll make it through without having a panic attack. I become overwhelmed with all the things I have to do, people I need to see. I conquered it though and now am on the other side feeling pride. Part of my secret: pretend I can.
When I feel the stress coming, I take a big breath, write down lists and even go on long walks to get rid of any nervous energy. Keeping a positive mindset is important.
Now that it’s the weekend, I deserve to relax and have some fun with Teddy!
5 more days until my CMW show! I’m super excited. It’s also got featured in Now Magazine’s 10 Must-see shows. It’ll be a busy week but totally worth it.
Over the past 6 years, there’s something more rewarding about blogging than all the free festivals, food and stuff that I’ve experience. It’s the community that I discovered online.
I’ve gained valuable friendships with people who I never thought would ever speak to me if I approached them in real life. I become frequently inspired by people who show up at real life meet-ups. That first walk through a door is always hard, but I’m always glad I had the courage to attend them.
My life purpose is to put emojis everywhere 🐹 🐰 🐻 🐼 🐨 🐯 🦁 🐮 🐷 🐽 🐸 🐙 🐵 🙈 🙉 🙊 🐒 🐔
I’ve never felt more in my own skin than I do in the past few years. What you see online, is what you get in real life too. I talk very openly about things I like: music, food and bizarre things. I also talk openly about more challenging things like anxiety and mental health. I have never felt more accepted in my life. I thank all my followers for always supporting me, reading, sharing and responding to my thoughts and going to the new events I host.
I ordered another batch of cards from Moo! They really won me over with their quality and presentation. Even the box it ships in is kind of cute.
Check out the sealed box under that box! There’s such a delicate attention to detail that I appreciate.
My cards are pretty much the same as last time but I realized I was missing my Twitter handle. I check that more than I do my own text messages or e-mail. Now I’m all ready for festival season!
Drake is a meme once again! And now you can make him sit on any photo with the Drake’s Views site. I thought I’d enhance a few of my selfies. I can’t help but think he did this on purpose to allow people to make fun of him once again.
Last night, we stopped by an Italian restaurant I had not been in nearby called Roma 1090. One pizza was enough for both of us. We ordered the Calabrese pizza which was calabrese sausage, onion and hot peppers. The waitress also gave us a bottle of hot sauce which we happily dipped our pizza in. It was full of heat but the flavour was addictive.
The pizza was cooked in a wood fire oven and was relatively thin. The sausage had a distinct sweetness to it and went well with the hot peppers and onions.
The menu also has other Italian classics like pasta, mussels, risotto. It’s a little bit of the old world in a neighbourhood surrounded by hip new age places.
It was a warm sunny day and I was happy to spend it discovering the neighbourhood with this dude:
After an event, 5 of my friends and I headed over to relatively new Campechano. It’s tiny space, so we had to wait around 20 minutes for a seat, even at close to 9pm! I don’t recommend this place if you are a picky eater or vegetarian (some of my friends were) because they have a very tiny menu of 9 tacos, 1 guacamole and 1 dessert.
I began with an order of guacomole. It was fairly simple to the eye but there was definitely an unexpected heat.
The first taco I had was the Tinga de Pollo, a morita chili stewed chicken breast with a green salsa on top.
One of my favourites was the Prescano, a beautiful deep fried branzino taco with a hint of chipotle.
The Bistec, a sirloin cap taco with onion, grilled green pepper and crunchy flakes of some sort was my favourite taco texturally.
Lastly, I went for the Chorizo (pork sausage) with potato. I was completely stuffed at this point (I don’t recommend that one person actually eat four tacos).
Somehow I still had room for their delicious flan with caramel drizzle. I wanted to lick the plate.
Oh yeah all this I washed down with a Paloma which was tequila, bitters and Squirt. They were generous with the alcohol, so definitely felt a little funny half way through.
I enjoyed all my taco selections. I found the meat very tender and spice not for the faint of heart. Everything was super flavourful and is definitely wroth the visit if you’re in the mood for cozy tacos.
Canadian Music Week is approaching and I partnered with Do416 to suggest 5 bands I think you should go see. I subconsciously chose all female acts but there were so many awesome things to choose from!
I was shocked when I found out Prince died. News travels fast when you live your day through social media. It was surreal. First people were tweeting that someone at Prince’s studio had died. Then TMZ tweeted it was Prince. Everyone wished they were wrong, even though they were right in the past about other legends.
Then the Associated Press tweeted.
BREAKING: Publicist: Pop music superstar Prince has died at his home in suburban Minneapolis.
