Loot Crate- December 2013 Edition

IMG_1314
December’s Loot Crate will be the final I’ll receive for a while. After too much holiday spending, I had to unsubscribe for the time being, until I have more extra income. Here’s what was inside! You can also watch my video unboxing here.

IMG_1303This month’s theme was Console Wars. Looks like things are still peaceful in this magnet of retro game controllers holding hands.

IMG_1300Every fighter needs some energy right? They gave some to us in the form of “Energems” bite sized mint chocolates. 3 of them apparently equals one energy drink. They also threw in a coupon for $1 off in case we need to recharge.

IMG_1307The more random (but awesome) of the items was the Tin-tastic activity kit from Funko. Inside each tin are stickers, pencils and erasers (mine are in the shape of Iron Man). The tin also makes great storage for any weird collectibles you might have.

IMG_1304I’m sure you’ve all experience the thing where your controller pads have fallen out leaving something that occasional cuts your thumbs. Well Grip It provided the solution to those problems with these mini pads.

IMG_1305Catbug and Impossibear look like they’re ready for war in this sticker.

IMG_1302So you can identify as a geek/gamer.

IMG_1311Last but not least is my favourite item, this mashup of Star Wars and the Console Wars idea. It’s so perfect for the theme.

Loot Crate- October 2013 Edition

IMG_9648I finally received my October Loot Crate yesterday. Since it was the month of Halloween, the theme for October was “Survive”. You can check out my unboxing video on Youtube and check out the contents below.

IMG_9654Like the past crates, there was the official guide to all the box’s contents. Loot Crate also made these temporary tattoos so I could pick sides in the zombie apocalypse.

IMG_9649Online card service Open Me provided this adorable gut-loving card. The service which is affiliated with T-shirt Threadless allows you to send cards to people for only $4.

IMG_9657Oh and if you actually like guts, they’ve included some in candy form. I got a heart.

IMG_9653Loot Crate Labs also created these 8-bit game inspired buttons. I received two sets somehow!

IMG_9661IMG_9677My favourite item from this month’s crate was this T-shirt. It’s a mashup of Walking Dead and the Ewoks from Star Wars. So adorable!

IMG_9656Graphic Lab, the maker of the tee provided a $5 discount code and I’m now an official Zombie Hunter with this ID.

IMG_9662Since I am a Zombie Hunter now, this guide proves quite useful. I’ve seen this around in stores before but was never interested in zombies enough to buy it. Now that I own it, I’ll definitely read it out of curiosity.

Loot Crate has definitely outdone itself with these crates and the value within. If you use the code NEXTGEN: you ca save $3 on next week’s crate: http://mbsy.co/lootcrate/176357

Loot Crate- September 2013 Edition!

IMG_5630
September’s Loot Crate theme is ANIMATE and I think this is my favourite one to date!

IMG_5635This Stimpy doll from Jazwares has a squeaky nose and elastic tongue. Oh, it also talks. Reliving some childhood Nicktoon days.

IMG_5638Egoraptor made this really creepy Pikachu sticker and Bizklimkit mashed Ninja Turtles and Storm Troopers in a magnet. Loot Crate made a sticker with the phrase “It’s Over 9000”, which comes from the popular Dragon Ball Z meme. Since last month’s crate, they’ve also included a handy dandy little zine explaining everything in the crate.

IMG_5634There was Family Guy or Yoshi branded lip balms in this month’s crate. I got Stewie! I’m very thankful to not be putting anything Quagmire on my lips.

IMG_5640Each crate also had blind boxes of either Futurama or Simpsons key-chains from Kid Robot. I opened my Futurama box to reveal Lord Nibbler.

IMG_5633Last but not least, was a TMNT vinyl figure from Funko. I was lucky enough to actually get my favourite Ninja Turtle, Donatello. Woohoo!

I wonder how Loot Crate will top this one next month.

Loot Crate- August Edition!

IMG_3732
It’s time for another Loot Crate unboxing! This week’s theme was CAKE in celebration of Loot Crate’s 1 year anniversary.

I made this unboxing video as the next instalment of my vlogs for all those that like to watch videos instead of read!

IMG_3737I don’t watch Walking Dead but my character in these Funko blind boxes is super adorable. I’m sure you fans out there can recognize who she is.

IMG_3735It’s not a Loot Crate without some Loot Crate stickers.

IMG_3733I am now a scientist in Portal’s Aperture Laboratories with this lanyard, tattoo and bracelet.

IMG_3734My favourite item from this month is this caffeine molecule T-shirt! They accidentally sent me a medium, but that’s okay. It would actually make a great gift for Nash who’s been sleepless with work. Also in the box was a $5 coupon for more shirts at Shirt Woot, so I can go order some more cool novelty tees. I’ve been browsing through their catalogue and I kind of want EVERYTHING.

IMG_3736A birthday party has to have some candy of course. I wish they included like 10 more packages because I ate it in two seconds.

Loot Crate- July Edition!

IMG_5023
I get excited every month when my Loot Crate arrives. It will be the closest thing I’ll ever have to Christmas in July (or every month for that matter). This month’s theme was Varsity

IMG_5027Star Wars headphones from Jazwares came at random. I got Darth Maul but other characters included Darth Vader, Yoda, and C3PO. Let’s be thankful Jar Jar wasn’t an option.

IMG_5033This month’s crate was in partnership with Video Game Highschool. Therefore, it was quite appropriate to include the 2 disc DVD of Season 1 and a pencil for back to school sake.

IMG_5025There was also this VGHS button set.

IMG_5026The stickers this month included a storm trooper + VGHS mashup and the Rocket Jump logo.

IMG_5030I totally forgot PEZ existed. What a blast from the past! Loot Crate randomized the MARVEL edition of the PEZ dispensers. I got Thor. Anybody want to trade for Wolverine?

IMG_5031Lastly there was this Sonic air freshener with a smell appropriately labelled “Sonic Breeze”.

Loot Crate is like a nerdy box of stuff delivered to your mail box every month. I do buy all my crates and it’s a little bit pricier in Canada ($29.99) as opposed to the US price of $19 (shipping included). If you’d like to sign up for Loot Crate, please use the referrer link below:

My First Loot Crate!

IMG_1931I was so excited when I found out that Loot Crate started shipping to Canada that I signed up right away. It’s a monthly subscription of nerdy gifts to your doorstep. It’s $19.99 for US residence and $29.99 for Canadians. Each month the boxes have a theme. May’s theme was EQUIP.
IMG_1942Inside the box was a card that explained all the product’s relationship to the theme. I also received a membership card since this was my first crate. There was also this $10 digital subscription to Pure Nintendo for iOS and Android so I could be equipped with nerdy news on the go.

IMG_1941This ninja by The Dojo is for wrapping your tangled earphones. I assume I received pink because I registered as a female.

IMG_1933These stickers (via Fred & Friends) are for making your inanimate objects come to life. Hmmm.. maybe now I won’t look so crazy talking to my computer.

IMG_1939I think my boyfriend is going to love this 8-bit tie from Black Tie Geek.

IMG_1932The box contained a DC figurine at random (The Flash, Green Lantern and The Joker) and I was lucky enough to get Batman. Woohoo.

IMG_1945In reference to Douglas Adams’ May 25th towel day we were equipped with this silly towel from Graphic Lab.

IMG_1948Like Mario, we were equipped with a question mark box of coins. These ones were edible and surprisingly strawberry flavoured.

IMG_1943
I really enjoyed building this Iron Man figurine from Mini Paper Craft.
IMG_1952
I’m loving my Loot Crate so far. It is full of great childhood memories, nerdy references and most of all encourages playfulness.
