Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette

A few months ago, when the Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture palette went on sale, I couldn’t resist getting it despite the mixed reviews online. The Modern Renaissance palette is one of my most used, so I thought I’d give it this a try for the discounted price.

A lot of the critique on this palette stems from the formula which is different from Modern Renaissance’s mica base. This one is primarily talc. When I swatched the colours, they were very pigmented! I didn’t have to press very hard.

I found the more matte colours were a bit chalky, and when applying on lids I had to be careful not to be heavy-handed or else I would get a weird smudge of dark colour on them.

Otherwise, I found the shadows to be quite gorgeous and found myself reaching for a few constantly. While the quality isn’t as great as the MR palette, if you can get this one discounted, it’s worth it!

Samantha Vega x Sailor Moon Backpack

I ordered his adorable Samantha Vega x Sailor Moon backpack recently. It’s faux leather, but still looks beautiful. I love the little moon charm and the Luna-like cat ears.

Inside, there is an Artemis and Luna pattern. I love finding things that are both nerdy and fashionable at the same time!

I Tried It: Regrowing Green Onions

On the web, there’s a lot of food hacks that help you save money or waste less food. One of the ones I’ve seen everywhere and looked easy enough was regrowing green onions.

It requires keeping the ends and putting them in a glass of water. Yes, they do grow but I’ll tell you why I hated it and how it’s not worth the 50 cents you save for not rebuying them:

1) You have to change the murky water often and the odor is pungent. You even start to smell it in the glass in general after a while.
2) There’s a 50% chance that the onion you grow is limp and not appetizing to eat.
3) green onions are so damn cheap

If growing onion works for you continue, but seriously not worth it for me!

Things I Used Up: January 2018

My New Years resolution was to try to use up more stuff before I acquire more of it. A lot of that is beauty stuff. I managed to not buy any of it the whole month of January and instead using more of my collection. It’s not just that I buy a lot, but I am frequently under the collector mindset that I shouldn’t “waste” anything, which is stupid since it’s more of a waste NOT to use the things.

My new vanity is helpful for displaying all I own so that I can be inspired every day to try out new products. I even realized I had so many free samples and minis that I decided to use up some so that I could have things to write in this list.

Here are some products I used up:

Here are items I panned (hit bottom but didn’t use up quite yet):

  • Mac Eyeliner Gel black – I hit pan and threw it out because it was getting old
  • Nars Orgasm/Laguna Duo

I decided to record when I hit pan because it’s just as rare as using something up! I have so many eyeshadows that I’m going to feel accomplished the one day those touch bottom.
