How My Life Changed as a Puppy Mom

Teddy was our family first puppy, but he’s always been considered my sister’s dog when we moved out of our parent’s house.

I’m a supreme doggo #fashion

When I moved out a few years ago, I really missed the constant companionship of a dog, but I wasn’t really in a financial or mental state to take care of one. My bachelor apartment was too small and I thought it wouldn’t fit into my social and musical life.

Do you have a treat for us? 😁😬

When Nash proposed and we moved in together to a bigger space, we spoke about our future and our desires for a little dog. We always thought it would come after the wedding but as soon as I met Bacon, I was in love.

I am half pretzel now #🥨

The 6 weeks we’ve been together so far has flown by and he’s already grown from the 4lb tiny doggy he came home as. The first couple of weeks I lacked sleep and was always anxious to get home to him. Now he sleeps much better and I know he does okay by himself at home.

I’ve spent a lot more time offline than I used to. It’s kind of easy to choose between being on my phone/computer and happily paying fetch with Bacon. I’ve also gone on more walks and seen parts of my own neighbourhood I would have never otherwise have visited and neighbours (and their dogs) we’ve never talked to. Together we’ve seen the sun rise and set many times.

When I am online, I find I use the time more efficiently. No more am I browsing around aimlessly. I usually have a specific task I have to do in a short time frame (when Bacon is calm or napping).

I can’t wait until the weather is warmer so we can see more new places and people. Here’s to more adventures in the New Year, which in 2018 is also the Year of the Dog!

Moschino + Sephora Bear Eyeshadow Palette

I wanted this Moschino + Sephora eyeshadow palette since the first announcement. I even tried on its August release date, but it sold out quickly and was removed from the store. I thought all hope was lost.

Then one-day last month I got an e-mail notification that it had been added back to the store. I logged on my computer and grabbed it in that instant. The bear just screams at me as a thing I need to have.

Inside the shadows are beautiful. Most of them are shiny, but there are some mattes to use with the shimmers. It even comes with a booklet on how to use some shadows together.
I swatched it lightly because I didn’t want to waste the precious shadows and it was very pigmented. The shimmers are so beautiful that photos don’t do it justice. This was totally worth the impulse buy.

I did my holiday party look with mostly this palette! It really made my eyes pop.

I bought one of those lipsticks with a flower inside

Sometimes I fall for those stupid sponsored posts on Facebook, where it shows a beautiful life-changing make-up product. I don’t even remember what site I bought this from but it was $8 and took around 4 months to arrive. I thought it was lost, or just never shipped.

The packaging itself is pretty, the lipstick itself is clear, but supposed to turn into a colour once applied.

However, I found that it didn’t really do much in terms of colour my lips, but give it a sheer gloss.

Oh well! Sometimes you just get what you pay for.

Modern Renaissance

After reading all the hype online, I had to get myself the Modern Renaissance eyeshadow palette from Anastasia Beverley Hills. It comes in a soft velvet case.

The colours are all warm tones. It’s perfect for everyday looks. I’m currently very into pinks and oranges as they are way more interesting than generic neutral tones.

A little swipe goes a long way as it is very pigmented.

What kind of looks have you pulled off with your Modern Renaissance palette?

LOKA Toronto

For Nash’s birthday a while back, we went to LOKA. His schedule lately has been hectic to plan anything in advance but we happened to get a day-of reservation for 8pm. I couldn’t resist the Ginger Old Fashioned that was on the chalkboard outside.

LOKA specializes in Canadian cuisine and they have both a Vegetarian and General “Eat Everything” option. We ordered both and the charcuterie board. They started us with a little amuse bouche that wasn’t listed but I could’ve eaten an entire bowl of.

The charcuterie is all made in-house. My favourite was the fatty duck, but we devoured the entire thing so fast.

Brussel sprouts served with a chive emulsion and pistachios is how I want to eat healthy vegetables forever.

I’ve also never had fiddleheads, but these tempura pickled ramps and fiddleheads was accompanied by a beautiful mayo.

These baby beats were also full of flavour and topped with a bit of delicious blue cheese.

On top of sourdough we had white bass rillettes with creamed cabbage.

This was a handrolled pappardelle with charred radicchio and kale cream.

One of our most memorable dishes was this pan seared mushrooms, truffled potatoes and deer lichen combo.

This beautiful dish was cured venison, wild mushroom ragout and pumpkin purée.

There was a salad of lettuce, heirloon tomatoes topped with green garlic dressing and burnt bread that almost imitated bacon bits!

We had this palette-cleansing thing made of beats that could’ve been like a dessert on its own.

The actual dessert was a caramel chocolate mousse with almond crunch and berry preserve. There was also a crunchy marshmallow.

I told them it was Nash’s birthday and he received a sparkler in his:

I loved this meal a lot! It might be one of my favourites this year and I can’t wait to come back occasionally to taste the seasonal selections.

My friend STACEY released her music video for “Trouble Is”! Back in summer, I had the pleasure of being one of the people who is having an elegant party in the background. Can you spot me?

Fenty Galaxy Eyeshadow + Eyeliner

I love sparkly make-up so I could not resist getting Fenty’s Galaxy collection eyeshadows and a glittery black eyeliner.

Look how beautiful this unicorn-esque packaging is too!

Inside are various colours of eyeshadow that are super glittery. It’s hard to capture in photos, but a few of the colours looked like it sparkled in two tones.

The colours themselves were pigmented. These swatches were made from one simple swipe of my finger. When I used them, there was some glitter fall-out on my face, which was to be expected from the shine in these shadows. They are also pretty easy to build and blend with other sets.

I have hit and miss experiences with glitter eyeliner because the few I’ve tried have irritated my eyes. However, this one did not!

It goes on as a regular black eyeliner, but if you smudge it (while it’s still wet), that’s when the true shine shows. After it dries, it doesn’t smudge and lasts all day.

Both these new additions will be so perfect in adding a holiday sparkle.
