I picked up new drawing pencils so that I could draw something to colour with my new pencil crayons. This set of 18 sketch pencils, 3 charcoal pencils, 3 paper erasable pens, 1 pencil extender, 1 craft knife, 1 eraser, and 1 plastic rubber cost only $18. It’s a steal compared to what you’d find at a store.

I also bought some colourless blenders that make pencil crayons look super smooth. I also got a sketchbook that I didn’t realize was teeny tiny! Oops, I guess that’s the downside of shopping online is that I have to closely read all the specs before buying.

Ride the Tempo co-presented a showcase at the Silver Dollar this weekend. Here are some of my favourite shots! See the full set here.

Photos: Women’s March Toronto

Yesterday, I took part in the Women’s March in Toronto. I felt empowered to be in the crowd. It also warmed my heart to see all the little kids who took part, providing hope for our future generations.

Prismacolor 150

Nash bought this set of 150 Prismacolor Pencil Crayons for Christmas. The funny thing was that I had clicked on them once on Amazon because there was a decent deal but still couldn’t justify buying a giant set of pencil crayons that I didn’t have time to use.

Anyway, if you’ve ever clicked anything on Amazon, you know that the item will haunt you all over the internet (on website ads, facebook e-mails) until you buy the thing. I had all the self-control in the world not to buy it no matter how much the price was decently dropping.

But I ended up with them anyways. So now I have to add these in my year of more art! Such a beautiful array of colours. Now I just need to figure out what is the perfect Simpsons muzzle brown.

85mm Teddy

Here are some random photos of Teddy that I took with my 85mm on my 5D Mark IV. I’m still getting used to the camera but I can’t get over the gorgeous effect I get at f1.2 on a full frame.

I took my Canon 5D Mark IV out last week for the first time. Below are some of my favourite photos. You can find the full set here.

New Year New Camera!

dscf4700

I recently killed my Canon 60D showing a crazy Fucked Up show at The Silver Dollar. Luckily, during Boxing Day I ordered a new camera: The Canon 6D Mark IV. There was a bunch of extras that came with it including a tiny camera USB, CF card and bag.

I’ve been waiting years for it to come out so that I could upgrade to a full-frame camera with wifi.

I am still getting used to it but I can’t wait for all the new photo possibilities. This will be a powerful tool in my photo arsenal.

I Went to Ripley’s Aquarium!

img_6321

I went to Ripley’s Aquarium for the first time on Thursday. I won tickets from a contest that I didn’t actually enter (I used a hashtag for a music festival and unknowingly won stuff).

Anyways, here are some photos of exotic fish and the inner world of Ripley’s.

My Make-Up Corner

As you can see from my previous posts, I love makeup. I’ve always been obsessed with buying and collecting make-up.

Last week for Black Friday, I bought a bunch of new cosmetics and then realized I needed to reorganize my collection so that it made more sense. I went to Muji and bought more storage units to match the ones I had. Now everything is organized and easily accessible. I have individual drawers for eyeshadows, lipsticks, bronzer/blushes, brushes, mascara and general face stuff.

I’m a feminist and I think everybody should feel great in their own skin, but if a lipstick, eye colour or whatever makes you personally feel like you can take on the world, I’m all for it. That’s what make-up is like for me. It makes me a little more confident to go about my daily life, like the ultimate placebo.

It is also a relaxing and fun routine for me in the morning. 5-10 minutes where I can myself up but also not worry too much about what the day will bring.

I also love art but often don’t have much time to sit down and draw. Makeup allows me to creatively work on the most organic canvas of all, the human face.
