#RevlonxLashes

I’m always excited to qualify for Influenster trials! Most recently, I was sent a complimentary Mega Mutliplier Mascara from Revlon.

Since I’m Asian, I have thin and relatively short eyelashes, so I’m always up for trying new mascaras. This particular mascara has 360 degree tubes that extend lashes for volume and length. I don’t tend to curl my eyelashes (because I’m scared of pulling the few I have out) but this drugstore mascara did a great job of making it appear like I have natural lashes.

It isn’t extremely dramatic but it feels natural. Adding this to my daily rotation of mascaras.

I Wear Makeup For Me

I saw this article the other day and I thought it was hilarious:

I could relate to the joke article. People always like to tell me I look more beautiful without make-up. I’m fine with my face without makeup, but I also fuckin’ love makeup too.

I find it empowering because I can decide what I want to look like. I could be a goth one day, a sparkly pixie the next, or a grown up woman going to an adult party.

A lipstick can make you feel powerful. A vixen red, a cute pink, a daring brown. It’s not just the colour that does it, it’s the fact that I decided.

I love eyeshadows because it’s like painting my face. I could have rainbow lids, smokey eye, but I choose it.

Makeup to me isn’t about what anybody else tells me I look best in. It’s the power of the colour I want to feel at the moment.

Etude House Sunprise Sunscreen

I learned when I was 26 or 27 that I had PLME. I don’t know if I always had it, but I didn’t show symptoms until my late 20s. Sunscreen is suddenly super important in summer. I don’t want my face to flare up, nor do I want my arms to be continuously itchy!

For my face, I’ve been using a lot of Korean BB creams, but I recently picked up this Étude House Sunprise online. Korean/asian sunscreens tend to be better than American ones because they protect from both UVA/UVB rays and are continuously updated. Here in America, the sunscreen technology takes a long time to be approved. The land of the 10 step skin-care routine has to have their sunscreen down!

I liked the sun screen. It went on very smoothly and disappeared. There’s a tiny bit of a white sheen, but I figure that’s what helps reflect the sun. When I used it on my face, it made my bb cream super smooth. I liked that it was not greasy and absorbed right away. Bonus: It has a light lime smell as opposed to  a generic sunscreen smell.

If you’re into Asian sunscreens, I’d love to know your recommendations.

Pikachu x Tonymoly Eyeshadow

I finally found some Pokémon x Tonymoly stuff at my local Korean grocery store (in the cosmetics section). I couldn’t resist this Pikachu eyeshadow.

The shadows are sparkly neutral browns. It’ll definitely be a frequently used palette as neutral colours are great for work and pretty much any occasion.

Here’s a quick photo with a blend of the first and third colour. The colours are very smooth and decent quality. I wasn’t expecting much more than the packaging but Tonymoly never disappoints!

I <3 Dark Lipstick

I love dark lip stick lately. It makes me feel powerful and in charge of how I want to look and present myself. It’s fun and bold because it requires a bit of courage to wear in public.

What’s your fav dark lip shade?

Topbox – May 2017 Edition

Honestly, I was kind of disappointed in May’s Topbox. Two of the samples were super tiny and the Colgate Optic White toothbrush thing they threw in as an extra expires in June.

This Superstart sample from Elizabeth Arden had only a squirt of product!

I’ll save this Black Magic mascara from Eyeko for night adventures as it is waterproof and dramatic.

The Benefit Pore Professional thing came in a box, but the balm itself was tiny!

The Cake Desserted Island supreme body mousse feels super rich and has a nice fresh scent.

I can always use a new toothbrush but the whitening pen in here will expire soon. It must’ve been leftovers from a previous box or something.

I really liked the April Topbox so it was a shame this one kind of sucked. Oh well, that’s it for me and beauty boxes for a while. Need to free up some space and save up for the wedding.

Holika Holika x Gudetama Face 2 Change Photo Ready Cushion BB

I know I told myself I would stop buying so much makeup before using some up but I couldn’t resist this Gudetama BB cream from Holika Holika.

The sales person recommend me 23 neutral beige for summer in case I can a bit. The product has SPF 50. It came in a variety of designs but I liked this one the most. It also comes with a refill for the compact, so it’s kind of like two portions in one.

The puff itself is also a Gudetama! The packaging is just so adorable I couldn’t resist.

In terms of coverage, it was a light coverage that lasts around 5 hours. You do get a little bit of shine, so not recommended if you are a particularly oily person who doesn’t like shine. It works perfectly with my highlighter and blush though so I don’t mind it.

nomakenolife – May 2017 Edition

This month’s nomakenolife box was themed beauty must-haves.

This Brigitte lasting liquid liner is super precise and dries fast. It also doesn’t smear easily. The only slightly weird thing is it came in brown. I’m used to wearing black eyeliner daily, but I think this will be good for subtle work looks.

This Mentrum Petrolleum jelly is a natural multi-purpose product for maintaining moisture in skin. It doesn’t have any smells or dyes so good for babies and people with sensitive skin.

Love Switch’s oil treatment mascara has a smooth application. It’s full of beauty oils like avocado, hazelnut, camelia seed and more. It’s also waterproof but makes my lashes feel healthier when I’m wearing it.

This coral lip tint from Brigitte is a subtle pink and tastes fruity because of the fruit extracts that are in it. I love how most of these products infuse natural food essences into them.

The last item was a brush. At first, I was kind of disappointed to get the brush but after using it with my BB cream I love it. It helps create a naturally dewy look by spreading the product even throughout. It’s so much more effective than a beauty blender.

I’m excited to give all these products a whirl, and they will find a use in my makeup collection!

I’m taking a bit of a break from make-up boxes for financial reasons (need to save for that wedding!), but final Top Box post coming soon.

The Face Shop 2016 Advent Calendar

Since it’s 2017 now, I got this 2016 Advent Calendar from The Face Shop for more than half off.

The packaging was pretty and featured little squares for different size gifts.

Inside, everything was way more than the $20 I paid for it.

Here are all the goodies I received:

1. Jeju Volcanic Lava Nose Pore Strip
2. Konjac Cleansing Puff
3. False Eyelashes
4. Orchid Hand Cream
5. Gel Touch Nail Polish
6. Single Brown Shadow
7.Intense Firming Mascream Sheet
8. Real Nature Aloe Face Mask
9. Herb Day Lip and Eye Makeup Remover Wipes
10. Rich Hand V Special Care Hand Mask
11.Calendula Essential Moisture Eye Cream
12. Smile Foot Mask

So many goodies to take care of my skin. I’ve become a bit obsessed with skincare now that I’m older. It’s never too late to take care of yourself!

Racinne Delicare Perfection

I received this Racinne Delicare Perfection mask box from a swag bag Nash got me from work. I’ve never heard of the brand but upon research, it’s another Korean skincare brand. I’m not Korean but they always have the nicest skin, so I’m always curious about their products.

These masks are primarily for dry skin. It can be worn and washed off in 15 minutes or as an overnight mask. Each portioned packet had a lot. I almost contemplated splitting it into two sessions, but I don’t need to be stingy on masks (I have tons).

It did leave my skin feeling moisturized after spending too much time in a warm shower. It also had a cold calming effect. It’s not as simple as a wearable mask, but I like that you can spread the product to all the right areas. I got lucky on this swag item!
