I Went To The Dentist

For the past 3 years, I’ve ignored going to the dentist because I was in that limbo period between being cutoff from my Dad’s insurance and figuring out what to do with life. Even after I was hired full-time, I had no idea how to go about finding a dentist that was friendly and clean-looking in the city. That is until I was reading fellow blogger Casie Stewart’s personal blog and she happened to be writing about a relatively new place called NOWsmile that opened up in the past year on Bloor & Bathurst.

It checked off all the boxes, and most important of all it was opened on a Saturday! Clayton gave me a thorough check up and tooth cleaning while I watched Cash Cab and Much Music on the TV! Now my teeth are beautiful again and I already booked my next appointment.

Modern Love

nash

People like to talk to me about relationships. I don’t know why. Nash and I have been dating for almost five years so it’s not like I have anything valuable to add about what it’s like to date in 2016.

I don’t think I would know how to be single in 2016 with internet dating, especially Tinder being the norm.

I did read Aziz’s Modern Romance, as I wrote about earlier and I am observing a lot of the same trends. Everyone wants perfect right away. If there is something wrong with the person, even a minor insignificant thing, than it’s done with on the first date.

The funny thing is. If I only had to judge Nash on first impressions we would’ve never dated. In fact, we were in the same class for over a year without it even being a possibility in my mind. Don’t wait until you can picture some imaginary perfect future with someone before you take a chance and just wait to see what happens.

It wasn’t until the end of the year where everyone started hanging out together that I thought, “hey, this dude might be kind of cool.”

Then we spent more time together. We went to a movie together. We played video games together. We talked. We listened to each other. We are different people in a lot of ways but somehow we made it work. It wasn’t love at first sight, but we’re madly in love still after all these years.

The Most Dangerous Writing App

Screen Shot 2016-03-12 at 2.11.07 PM

Can you free write for a full 5 minutes? The Most Dangerous Writing App aims to help you do just that!

The concept of this app is that if you stop typing for more than five seconds, the entire thing will delete itself. If you erase stuff, it counts as you are wasting 5 seconds. So use the delete key sparingly.

It’s a frightening way to write. You can set it for 5, 10 minutes or even an hour. But who would torture themselves like that?

We all get writer’s block and this would be a useful tool to get everyone writing with less thinking. Often when we have unlimited amounts of time, we also have unlimited amounts of thoughts that lead self-editing, and less words on paper.

When I tried this app, 5 minutes seem like the longest amount of time ever. Every second is being counted down in the top right corner as you type. It’s legitimately insane. As five seconds near, the words become transparent, so it does have some warning that there has been some idleness in the production of words. Sometimes you just need to stop for a second.

I am currently taking the test by writing this article. This is scary. Will I make it to the end? If you ever see this published as a blog post than that is a confirmation that I have successfully made it to the end of 5 minutes. Oh my god I have 51 seconds to go. There are over 1330 words now in this document. The crazy part is that I actually can type 90 words per minute and am typing slower than normal just so I don’t run out of ideas. I type them faster than I can think of them and that is making this countdown clock even harder than it should be. I win. Yes. 5 Minutes have passed. Will you make it to the end of this writing test?

My First Raptors Game!

Last night, my co-worker took me to my first Raptors game. I have never been before! We were at a work event earlier in the evening so we made it in for 2nd quarter. Toronto was playing Atlanta and I spent some time looking for Drake of course.

Halfway through, I very genuinely asked why Atlanta’s logo was Pacman eating a dot.
hawk
I learned that it was a hawk, but I cannot unsee Pacman. The hawk is never the first thing my eye focuses on.

This dancing was also very confusing. I like the idea of integrating other cultures but this seems so strangely out of place. Apparently there are weirder things that happen sometimes like a lady balancing plates.

It was definitely an adventurous night and I had fun at my first basketball game. Since the Raptors scored 100 we got free pizza too!

The Weekend Is Not Long Enough!

Man that weekend flew by. I felt like I packed a ton of stuff into it. I participated in a few interviews about women in creative industries, went to two shows in one night, did some show planing (more info soon), paid my respects to the anniversary of my grandfather’s passing and packed in a lot of writing.

It’s weird because I feel the most alive when I am super busy. It helps me use up some nervous energy. I won’t forget to find time to relax which I will try to squeeze in this week!

Snow Day!

Teddy’s pretty much snow coloured

It was a snow day here in Toronto as we received our first big snowfall of the season. I worked from home today so that I didn’t waste time stuck on the road. It’s amazing how much stuff I can get done in my own environment.

Anyways, quick post today! Had a busy one here at home and about to hop out there in the snow for the rest of the night.

Ahhhh! I can’t believe I turn 28 today. I’ve been having a quarter life crisis or something about it recently. 28 is not that exciting. There aren’t songs written about it and people start to really pester you on getting married or having kids, neither of which is really priority right now.

But I realize, I have a cool life for a 28 year old and I am going to be more proud of it. I have so many cool upcoming things in store and there’s nothing stopping me from doing all the things I want! I’m cooler and wiser than the person I was at 25 and surrounded by awesome people. Today my Twitter feed is full of dog gifs.

28 it really isn’t so bad after all.

Nanoblock Eevee

I needed to calm some anxieties down this weekend and I found that building things with instructions and a final product help a lot. This is why colouring doesn’t. It doesn’t really have instructions so I end up thinking too much about it. Anyways, I found this adorable Nanoblock Eevee online!

There were over 130 super tiny pieces.

The instructions had very little words and were a bit hard to follow at first. I found the best way to follow where to put what was to start from the easiest place and match the patterns (sometimes it’s unclear what is pointing to where). Plus I don’t know how anyone with hands bigger than mine would do this as the pieces are so delicately small!

Tada! Here is my hand for size comparison. The good thing is if you lost a piece it includes extras of everything.

I’m a Gif

tianafeng

It is below -25 this weekend so I have to dress warmly but layered so I can adjust inside sold-out concerts. I really liked my outfit and make up yesterday so I took some selfies and made myself into a gif! Never be afraid to celebrate when you feel beautiful.
