Barkbox – July 2014 Edition

IMG_0002
It’s Barkbox time again! This might be our last for a little while (mostly because Teddy still needs to eat all his snacks from Woofstock).
IMG_0005This month’s theme was “Surf’s Up”.

IMG_0014Fitting perfectly with the them was this shark toy from Harry Barker. The toy had two squeakers but were no match for our little dog.

IMG_0008These Bixbi Daily Essentials Chicken Jerky Treats make the dog go crazy. All of Barkbox’s treat selections have been some of Teddy’s favourite. They tend to be organic and have no filler ingredients such as corn and soy.

IMG_0009There was even a pina colada smoothie! Unfortunately Teddy is allergic to banana so we’ll be giving it to a doggy friend.

IMG_0012A beef pizzle from Superior Farms Pet Provisions will entertain him for hours.

IMG_0015Lastly, these Petsafe dog chews clean teeth and are good for doggy bodies at the same time.

Barkbox- June 2014

IMG_8787
Another month, another Barkbox! I think I’m just as excited as Teddy to see what goodies are inside.

IMG_8793These Healthy Dogma Banana Chips ($7.95) look just like the human kind. They are grain and gluten free. Unfortunately, Teddy is strangely allergic to bananas so we will be giving this to another dog friend. I wish there was an option on Barkbox to mention allergies/sensitivities. Bananas are the only food we’ve ever seen him have a problem with.

IMG_8792The other snack in the box was the Primal Freeze-dried Beef Liver treats ($5). Teddy is absolutely in love with these.

IMG_8791 One of the best part of Barkbox is there careful consideration of quality toys. This frog from Pet Qwerks is so adorable!

IMG_8790By far the best item in this Barkbox was this Baboon butt from Silly Bums ($20). It’s hilariously random but Teddy hasn’t stopped playing with it since. It squeaks and crinkles. It’s more durable than it looks at first glance.

Woofstock 2014

Woofstock 2014
This year Woofstock moved from St. Lawrence Market to Woodbine Park near the east end beaches. I loved the new location because you could always take a break with your dog beneath the trees. There were so many types of people and dogs of all shapes and sizes.

Teddy’s First Barkbox

IMG_3278
For Teddy’s June birthday, I subscribed him to Barkbox, an online subscription service for dogs that sends goodies and toys every month. There are a few other competitors out there, but Barkbox’s marketing and quality of goodies impresses me above all others.

IMG_3282How it works is you pick your dog’s size (small, medium, large) subscription plan and it is shipped on the 15th of every month. I am Canadian so I assumed it would take a couple weeks to get here and that’s why I ordered it way before his actual birthday. However, I was surprised that it arrived on the 20th, so their shipping times are impressive. It arrived in a branded box with cute wrapping paper.

IMG_3312A card spoke of the month’s warm weather theme and fresh ingredients.

IMG_3291Along those themes were these fruity smelling strawberry biscuits from Max and Ruffy that were wheat and GMO free. ($5.25 retail)

IMG_3286Teddy LOVED this corduroy cat from Loopies Toys. It’s durable but probably won’t stand a chance when Teddy decides he wants to unstuff it’s insides. ($25 retail)

IMG_3290These grain free chicken jerk chews smell as good as the jerky we crave the convenient store. ($12.99 retail)

IMG_3289Lastly this vanilla smelling ball from Mega Last seemed a bit big at first but the dog was soon throwing it around all over the place. I’d be careful with it indoors though!

We’re very happy with our first Bark Box and can’t wait to see what’s in the next one! Right now for a limited time if you sign up with our link http://ruv.barkbox.com/x/CqChIz, you can get 10% off a new Barkbox subscription. 10% of proceeds of every Barkbox goes to a rescue group.

Teddy Smells Some BBQ

IMG_3238
This new sigma 35mm is seriously like a blogger’s best friend. Look at that creamy blur of chicken. Here are some random photos of Teddy while we were BBQing.

Fisheye Teddy

Fisheye Doggy
The Canon EF 8-15mm L fisheye lens joined the family so I tested it out on Teddy. He never actually looks at the camera but this allows me to stick it in his face!

Friends At The Dog Park

Oh, Hello There
Finally we had some nice spring weather this weekend so we took Teddy to Totoredaca dog park for the first time. It’s the larger dog park in Mississauga and there are different sections if you want your dog running leash free in a smaller space. It’s also a lot cleaner than the previous one we went to.

Teddy’s still a bit shy, since he doesn’t go out much but he still made a few friends!

I feel like I haven’t posted photos of Teddy in a while, though I could totally be wrong. Despite what it looks like, it’s actually impossible to get him to look at the camera. A lot of shouting and waving things around is involved. Here are some shots of him basically blending into the basement carpet.

Weekend at the Harbourfront & Toronto Island

Toronto 6/23/2013
On Sunday, our family went down to the Harbourfront Centre to check out the Tall Ships at the Redpath Waterfront Festival. Teddy also came with us. Either we thought the boats looked the same as regular boats, or we were on the wrong side of Queens Quay but we couldn’t find too many to take photos of.

Since we had the dog with us we ventured into Paws Way. Inside was a cafe where you could share your food with your pet, a store and walls full of random beloved pet stories. To play in with the Tall Ships theme, in the event/activity room there were dog breeds that sailors used to bring on ships.

Since we seemed to fail at finding boats, we decided to go the island. It was somewhat cloudy so the sky in photos looked a bit boring.
