Dollarama Review: Hot Designs Nail Polish

dscf0286 I thought it was a steal to find these for $3 at Dollarama. I usually see them at the Walmart compulsive buy aisle for like $9.

They are like nail polish markers. Each was two sided.

It also came with cleaning pins that look like they could double as the thing that helps remove a sim card from your iPhone.

The sad part is when I opened it, a lot of the pen end was jabbed inside, rendering it semi useless. It’s supposed to be like a fine point pen sized thing, but since it got sucked inwards it can no longer handle details like it’s supposed to.

Boo, what a dud. I’m glad I didn’t pay $9 for this and could potentially still use it as regular polish.

Amazon Art Supplies

I picked up new drawing pencils so that I could draw something to colour with my new pencil crayons. This set of 18 sketch pencils, 3 charcoal pencils, 3 paper erasable pens, 1 pencil extender, 1 craft knife, 1 eraser, and 1 plastic rubber cost only $18. It’s a steal compared to what you’d find at a store.

I also bought some colourless blenders that make pencil crayons look super smooth. I also got a sketchbook that I didn’t realize was teeny tiny! Oops, I guess that’s the downside of shopping online is that I have to closely read all the specs before buying.

Beauty By Earth Lip Balm

dscf4502

Winter means my lips can get super dry and that doesn’t make putting on lipstick easy! I have a lot of EOS lip balms but they never really work that well so I wanted to find some Beeswax Lip Balm.

I found this set of 4 Beauty By Earth Peppermint flavoured Beeswax Lip Balms on Amazon for only $10. That’s like half the price of Burts Bees.

The packaging is very simple and so are the ingredients. Nothing sounded weird and mysterious. The balm itself has a nice tingling mint sensation and keeps my lips moisturized without feeling greasy.

I love discovering new brands with affordable prices online!

Dollarama Review: Jazzee

I bought this by accident. I thought I was buying Febreeze. I mean it looks a lot like Febreeze. But I ended up with Jazzee. Who named this thing anyways?

The good thing is, it works like Febreeze. Whatever I spray ends up smelling fresh (though it doesn’t have a strong a scent as actual Febreeze). It’s also half the price!

Still, Jazzee is a stupid name.

Stranger Things T-shirt

I also got this adorable Stranger Things tee from Teefury. It features all the kid stars!

Eleven even has an Eggo in her hand!

Sailor Moon Christmas Sweater

I found the cutest Sailor Moon Christmas Sweater on Tee Fury!  I don’t think I will ever be too old for my favourite female super heroes.

Dollarama Review: Dog Deer Costume

img_6015

Dollarama has a wide variety of pet stuff including some Christmas costumes! Teddy became a reindeer without breaking the bank. The only con is they only have one size but we managed to squeeze both parts through his giant head.

How does he look?

Cyber Monday Beauty Splurges

Ok, I am totally the worst for spending too much on make-up lately. I couldn’t resist grabbing some of Sephora’s holiday kits on Cyber Monday. Plus, they had 4 free sample bags to choose from with purchases over $25 (but let’s be real everything at Sephora is more than $25).

I grabbed The Best Bite Redux, a collection of 4 lip crayons and Smash Box’s Try It Kit. They were both awesome deals with products worth more than the set cost. Plus, I got I chose the Sephora Day-of-Soirée Swag Sample Bag which had perfumes, masks and creams for staying young!

Now off to decide my holiday party face for tonight!

Staying Warm

The temperatures are finally dipping this week. We saw our first snowflakes on Sunday. Monday afterwork I splurged on some things to keep me warm:

It snows once

I’ve never bought under shirts for winter but I couldn’t resist trying Uniqlo’s Heattech line. It has special fibres to keep the wearer warm or extra warm (which I decided choose). There’s also Argan Oil to keep your winter skin comfortable. I’m excited to test it in cold weather. It’s so thin that it doesn’t add much bulk.

I wanted warm waterproof boot thats were more work appropriate than the fluffy boots and these were perfect. I love my new Sorel Lola boots!

The soles are rugged, which is important to me when buying boots because I am a total clutz, so anything that improves my stability is a plus. Plus, they look great too.

Now I’m all ready for going to work in the cold!

Dollarama Review: Insta Peel

I haven’t done a Dollarama Review in a while, but I thought this thing would be worthy of one. After all, it is described as the revolutionary concept in peeling!

img_5792

I mean for $3 how could I resist right?  It promised to make my carrot peeling mess free.

img_5794

Here is what it is like. Giant carrot to scale. It takes up a lot of room. I don’t think the handle part needed to be that thick. or long.

img_5795

Anyways, I tested it on the carrot. It was dull. It was also hard to aim where you were peeling, so it took me a long time to actually peel the carrot. I found the carrot shavings also tend to jam the already shitty blade, so every once in a while I need to scrape it.

Sorry Insta Peel, you are not revolutionary.
