Happy Lunar New Year! I’m not home to celebrate it with my parents this year but they’ve been sending me hilarious photos of Teddy receiving red pockets. It’s the year of the Monkey, an animal that is adventurous and may we all have some fun ones this year!

Let’s Talk About Mental Health
It’s no secret here that I talk openly about mental health. Every January, I have participated in #BellLetstalk, a campaign where Bell will donate 5 cents to mental health programs with every tweet that has the hashtag. There’s a lot of people out there who are rightly critical about the corporate agenda, but as I spoke last year, one day is better than none.
I would’ve killed to feel less alone in 2009, to read the tweets of thousands of millions of people who were in similar situations. It would’ve been wonderful to read the tales of how some overcome their illnesses or how others live with them. I shared my own battle with anxiety here. There was a period of time where I thought exiting this world would be easier than staying in it.
Thankfully, I am still here and willing to share my stories so that I can save someone else’s life. That’s why this day is important. If somebody reads a tweet and it saves their life, even if it’s one person, even if it was because of a stupid corporate hashtag, it is worth it in the end.
Pokemon at McDonalds!

I remember when I was a kid, I would go to Burger King or McDonalds, which ever one would have Pokemon toys and try to collect them all. I can’t believe they are back again. I can’t believe such a franchise has been popular across different generation of kids.
The toys are much cooler now! I even received a holographic Pokemon card with it. Kids nowadays get it so much cooler.

IONIX Ash
I finally opened the Ionix Ash I received via Bunz Trading Zone.
It opens up to 9 pieces sort of like Lego Mini figs, only more like a mini robot.
Behold Ash bot!

Thank You Blue Jays

Last night, the Blue Jays lost Game 6 of the ALCS series against the Royals. I was upset, but I realized no other team had made me care about a sport so much in my lifetime. A lot of people were in the same boat. It wasn’t just about bandwagoning or a trend, many people followed the post-season series committing time and their emotions.
As a city we united. People would share scores on buses and trains with strangers. There was even one time where some guy read out loud a play by play when in places where reception was spotty. Restaurants, pubs and other local businesses brought people together who, for the first in a while, were genuinely proud and excited of their city team.
We were lucky to have a group of players that never gave up even when their last games seemed bleak. They worked together and appeared to be the best of friends. They played some of the most exciting baseball ever, which is weird to say because it is often not very exciting. We hung to the edge of our seats with our hearts on the line. In the end our hearts were broken, but that only happened because we had a team to love in the first place.
Thank you Jays for playing the best baseball I’ve ever seen.
In Defense of Bandwagoning
The Blue Jays are doing awesome this baseball season. They are currently in the ALCS. There’s a lot of talk and making fun of bandwagon fans. But, I don’t see that as a problem.
Why should people need to dedicate themselves to all 200+ games all season in order to be a “real fan”. It’s kind of equivalent to hipsters who say things like “I liked the band when they were playing in their garage.” It’s nice if you supported the team all along, but there’s nothing wrong with people who join in once the team is doing well.
There’s pride in the city when we’re winning. We can’t always be there 100% when they lose, I mean that’s why we end up with mediocre teams like the Leafs (just kidding). Being there when the team is doing well shows the city (as well as the people who own the team, Rogers) of the value of keeping all the current players on contract and continuously on making it better. It keeps the team putting their best effort forward to keep the respect of their fans.
Lego Simpsons House
My first lego set ever was this limited edition Lego Simpsons House. Prior to this I’ve never owned or built any set from start to finish. I’m a huge fan of The Simpsons so when I found out they were releasing the house I was super excited.
I ordered it from Amazon and the box was huge!

Here’s the back.
There were 7 parts to the house and 3 booklets worth of instructions. It took me around 3 weeks to build, mostly because I don’t have a lot of time to do it consecutively. It was a super relaxing process though, and took my mind offline.
It’s so super detailed and looks exactly like the house on the show!
Here are some photos of the inside details in order of how they were built:
Stay tuned for more Lego posts when I finish the Kwik-E-Mart!
Living in Toronto
