I’m on a bit of a weird snack binge lately with Green Tea Kit Kats & Swiss Chalet’s Chalet Sauce Lays. Both are unique and addictive in their own ways.
What weird snacks are you into?

After a super depressing few weeks of search for a Nintendo Switch, I finally got my hands on one (actually two). I bought one for Nash too so we don’t have to share. If you’re lucky the Source at the Eaton’s Centre (by Queen Street subway entrance) had a bunch.
Short blog post today. I’m off to play Zelda.
A quest for something to eat last weekend in Ottawa, landed us in Edoko Japanese Steakhouse. They have Teppanyaki and a regular menu. We opted for the regular menu because we weren’t sure if we had a lot of time to spend there.
I had the Terriyaki Steak cooked medium rare served with noodles, hibachi shrimp and vegetales. The steak was so tender and flavourful. There was also a lot of it.

It also came with a Chicken Soup and classic green salad.

I also had a glass of plum wine.
The restaurant was very hospitable and the owner came to greet us and make sure everything was to our liking. We had a very nice evening at Edoko!

While I was in Ottawa, I tried to find some local beer at the closest LCBO and only found this amber ale from Broadhead.
I enjoyed the flavour that hit in just the right places. There was a tinge of sweetness and a drinkable malt. Bold without being too bold.

I was super excited to be a recipient of a free pillow at the JUNO Awards. It was delivered one day after in a star filled box.
I’ve already slept a few days with it and I love it. I’ve actually never had a fluffy pillow my entire life. Growing up all our pillows were flat and firm, so I got used to that.
The Casper has an inner and outer pillow. One firm and the other soft respectively. The cover always keeps you cool, so every side is the cool side of the pillow. It retains it’s shape and doesn’t seem to flatten that easily.
I’m enjoying it so far and can’t wait for every sleep.
Here’s a photo of me in the box:

As soon as I first laid eyes on this Tarte palette, I was in love! Even the packaging is so pretty.

It almost looks like a locket from Sailor Moon or something.

The palette colours are so shimmery and metallic. It’s magical.

These were super quick swatches using my finger and avoiding wasting too much product. They’re very shimmery, so a bit hard to photograph under the light.
Now I’m ready to be a unicorn.

Jenny Lawson, the writer of Furiously Happy and Let’s Pretend It Never Happened, recently released a colouring book called You Are Here. It’s full of beautiful drawings by Lawson as well as tidbits of humour and advice.

I love it so much. The drawings are not like any other colouring book you’ve ever seen and the quotes make me laugh, learn and possibly cry.

I was in Ottawa for JUNO weekend and I couldn’t resist opening Zomato and looking up places to eat nearby. One of the highest rated places was The Scone Witch, which specializes in sandwiches out of scones.
It was breakfast time when we went so I had The Eggwitch and a cup of Witch’s Brew (coffee). The Eggwitch was a scone stuffed with eggs, ham and old cheddar cheese from St. Albert. We were allowed to choose what type of scone it was made out of and I picked feta. It was delicious. The pastry was light and fluffy with a nice touch of feta. The eggs had a nice creamy texture when combined with the cheese.
The whole thing was eaten quickly. This is definitely a must try if you’re in Ottawa and interestingly not a trendy thing yet in Toronto, the city of weird food things.

I’ve heard a lot of people in make-up circles rave about the Pixi Glow Tonic, so I just had to try it myself. Plus, I didn’t currently have any toner in my routine. It’s a little expensive, perhaps because of all the buzz. I bought the bigger bottle which cost almost $40.
It has glycolic acid which is good at exfoliating the impurities in skin.
I’ve been using it two times a day for a week and a half so far. I put a few drops on a cotton pad and I find that it picks up a lot of dirt that general face washing had missed. A little goes a long way. My skin is also looking more even. I find that when I put make up on it goes on a lot smoother.
This bottle is going to last me a while, but I’m definitely believing the hype!

My skin gets dry a lot when it’s cold. I have a lot of serums and moisturizers for my face, but I wanted something more natural so I got this 92% Aloe Vera Gel from Nature Republic.

The product itself is a super clear gel. When you apply it to your skin it might seem oily for a second but soon your skin drinks it away. It’s multi-purpose. I rub it anywhere that feels dry, or I can put it under neath an actual moisturizer if I am feeling dry. There’s a cooling effect to aloe that is nice and brings down redness.
Aloe is also anti-fungal, so it can help with acne and other skin ailments! There are so many uses for aloe gel that this will be a staple in my routine, along with other products.
