The best crew #hiltonatplay

On Saturday, my friends and I got invited to this exclusive Tegan and Sara show at Hilton Hotel in Toronto. We were spoiled with a cocktail hour that had an extravagant table of food (lobster rolls, fish and chips, sliders galore). There were also a fun photo booth and cool lounge areas before the show.

Check out some of my favourite photos below! My full gallery and review is over on Ride the Tempo.

ION VINYL ALIVE

My vinyl collection is growing and I have a mixture of new and second hand stuff. Some of the older stuff plays well but crackles with dust so I searched for a safe way to clean them and picked up this ION Vinyl Alive on Amazon.

Inside is a cleaning liquid and a brush made of a soft micro fibre cloth.

Now I can make my old vinyl all shiny again!

Vinyl Me Please: June 2016 Edition

DSCF0647

I just received this month’s Vinyl Me Please selection in the mail!  It’s an exclusive VMP pressing of Wells Fargo’s Watch Out in green. Inside there is a 20-page book of liner notes and a print by Saghon Kim.

I love that Vinyl Me Please chooses both modern and classic records. I’ve only been seriously collecting for over a year and it’s overwhelming to try and collect older stuff because I don’t know where to start. At least this way, I get my hands on some seriously good stuff.

Show Hopping

Somehow started from no shows, to going to two shows tonight. Life happens unexpectedly. I’m super excited for PUP’s release show, so much that I somehow ended up with two records.

See you on the other side!

CMW Catchup!

My CMW photosets are done and you can catch them on Ride the Tempo here!. Now on to planning the next show.

Chillin at the Prism Prize

No time to blog tonight! But here is a random photo of me sharing a nail moment at Prism Prize with Harrison.

Vinyl Me Please – May 2016 Edition

Vinyl Me Please tops itself every month. This month is a special edition of Weezer’s Pinkerton in marble blue, with a pop-up interior. This one’s a classic, a record that every vinyl enthusiast should own at some point.

The interior gatefold had gorgeous pop-up art and a lyric sheet. I can’t stop looking at that beautiful LP!

This month also features an original 12 x 12 art print from Fuco Ueda. For the second month in a row, I was also the lucky receiver of a secret 7″. Spoiler alert: It’s Whitney’s Golden Days/Light Upon The Lake.

With the Canadian dollar kind of sucking, the subscription is a bit pricey for a Canadian but it’s a secret pleasure that I don’t regret indulging in because it always cheers me up to open one of these packages up.

Photos From My CMW Show!

I’m still super excited about how well our show at Canadian Music Week went! A lot of friends and Ride the Tempo fans came out to support and we had a decently packed house on a Wednesday night. Here are some of my favourite photos:

Vinyl Storage

DSCF9295

I started heavily collecting vinyl last year when I invested in a new record player. Records tend to take up a lot of room and the top two square shelves I was using started to fill up so I looked for other solutions that wouldn’t take up too much space in my small apartment.

At my local record store, they sold these stackable shelves. I only have one for now but if I need more I can put them on top of the other in an all awesome tower of records. These also serve as a good way to move records (which is of some concern when I find a new place).

How do you store your records?

Lumino City

Lumino City – Official Trailer from State of Play on Vimeo.

I’m terrible at completing games, but I finished Lumino City recently. I enjoyed that it auto-saved my progress so that I never had to commit time to making check points. I could play it within any free time I had which fit well into my busy schedule.

The world of Lumino City is adorable and beautiful, made with handmaid paper crafts, lights and motors. It’s an adventure game where you find clues and solve puzzles. I downloaded it on my Mac but it’s also conveniently available on phones and tablets. The piano-based music was calm and peaceful. I’m looking for more games to play that deliver the same level of satisfaction!
