Simpsons Books is Now on Instagram

My Simpsons Books tumblr is gaining a decent following, so I decided to also put it on Instagram at @simpsonsbooks.

I’m surprised someone wasn’t doing this already!

Why I Love the New Zelda

Since I bought the Nintendo Switch, I’ve been hooked on Zelda. The new game is beautiful and satisfying as someone who is an occasional gamer.

The best part about it is you can go at your own pace. I haven’t come across any timers and there are so many puzzles and shrines that help you feel the sense of accomplishment along the way.

The magic of this new Zelda, is that you don’t really have to follow the story. You can wander pretty much in any direction and find something to do. Whether it’s killing a mob, solve puzzles in a shrine or try to boat across a river.

Dying also doesn’t seem like a big deal. You can pick up where you started. Sometimes deaths are funny. I occasionally climb up mountains to be killed by a goat or try too hard to capture a good horse that ends up kicking me in the face.

I’m still nowhere near done the game but I’m having so much fun in it already!

Protecting my Nintendo Switch

The best thing about the Nintendo Switch is that you can take it on the go, like a giant Gameboy. For the first week, I didn’t have any protection and was carrying it around in my laptop bag. I found this case and screen protector on Amazon, for half the price of what it would be in store.

The case by Butterfox, has enough space for tons of games as well as a pouch for extra controllers and the charger. It even is small enough to fit into my Pikachu backpack!

Now I’m ready to take my Switch on the Go.

I Finally Found a Nintendo Switch

After a super depressing few weeks of search for a Nintendo Switch, I finally got my hands on one (actually two). I bought one for Nash too so we don’t have to share. If you’re lucky the Source at the Eaton’s Centre (by Queen Street subway entrance) had a bunch.

Short blog post today. I’m off to play Zelda.

Walk Your Way to Free Movies

Carrot Rewards launched in Ontario a month ago. It’s like a step counter that rewards you! So far, you can sign-up to either receive points from Aeroplan, Scene, Petro-Points and More Rewards. I chose Scene Card so I can walk my way to free movies.

For the first two weeks, the app tracks your own activity and creates personal goals. After that, there are daily goals and challenges where you can earn bonus points. There are also frequent surveys and quizzes to teach the user to live a healthier life style. After all, this is sponsored by Health Canada among other organizations.

It exists on both Android and iPhone and can use FitBit, Apple Watch or the built in step counter on your phone.

If you sign-up use my referral code tianaf2527 for extra points!

Simpsons Books Never End

I’m still continually finding new books in episodes of The Simpsons! Here are more of my favourites:

Happy 7th Birthday to Ride the Tempo!

I can’t believe it’s been 7 years since the lonely Valentine’s Day where I launched Ride the Tempo. I am super proud of it today. I’ve met some of my best friends because of the blog and had the craziest experiences.

I can’t believe once looked like this:

Then it looked like this:

Then this:

Then I made it white for some reason:

Finally in 2015, the site became the modern look it looks today. The site is forever changing, but I’m happy that it has evolved so much over time.

AutoSleep

I’ve been feeling exhausted lately so I decided to start tracking my sleep again. I used to use Sleep ++, but it required manually starting and stopping your sleep sessions. I’d often forget to turn it off in the morning and it would drain my battery.

AutoSleep is different. It tracks your sleep automatically by detecting when you’re heart rate is lower and there is hardly movement while wearing the watch. It also knows when you are charging your watch so it’ll use the time between phone glances as your sleep time. That way it tracks every day automatically, whether I remember the app or not!

It’s Okay To Disconnect If You Need It

There’s so much going on in the world that I start to constantly feel guilt that I am not paying attention 24/7. Anxiety is feeding on more anxiety and I know that it’s not healthy.

Being connected has always been a part of my personal life and work, but now more than ever I am trying to convince myself that it’s ok if I need time off. To stop reading, if only for a few hours.

I’ve been more politically active online and offline (through donations), but it’s ok to take care of myself too. To force myself offline for a bit, I’ve committed to more activities with friends like Monday night trivia at the bar (no phones allowed) and Board Game nights. Breaks alone are important too (but easier to catch myself back on the computer).

Does anybody else feel like they must be glued to screens at all time or feel insane FOMO/guilt? I’m here to tell you you’re not alone.

Use Your Voice For Good

As the world South of the border starts to look grim, I’ve been anxious to get more and more involved. A start has been using my voice more online. I’ve always avoided being political most of the time, but if everyone thought that way there would be no change.

I really appreciated a lot of celebrities using their fame to speak out and raise funds for notable causes.

Now is the time to be on the side of history that you want to be remembered for.
