We don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day but we definitely appreciate the day after. The chocolate discounts are worth it and it’s way more fun to see what we can splurge on together!
Our philosophy is that we should appreciate our time together all year and have fun fancy dinners that aren’t forced by an overpriced day! Also, I don’t really care for flowers.
My birthday is coming up so couldn’t resist ordering some stuff from Sephora so I could get my birthday gift. I thought this year’s choices were pretty cool. I chose the Tarte set that came with a nude lip gloss and blush.
I compulsively bought this Guerlain mascara because the wand was cute.
I feel like I can transform into a Sailor Scout if I yelled “Mercury Star Power!” or something.
The wand itself has a dress-like shape. It makes it easy to get every lash, including the bottom ones. I like that the mascara was not clumpy, it’s super light so I forget I’m wearing it. It’s good for volume and lengthening. It holds my curl too (but I do use a lash curler). It also has a weirdly pleasant smell, which I haven’t really noticed before in a mascara. I would definitely buy this again!

I’ve always walked past Latin World and seen it packed full of people who’ve probably been going there for years. It’s like a secret local spot that hasn’t been taken over by hipsters. Inside it is like a grocery store that also serves food.
For $10, I got 4 fish tacos. They also have like a $1 taco special every day but I was in the mood for fish. But man, if I was feeling particularly hungry and poor one day $1 is a steal! There was a lot of flavour in every bite and enough to feel full.
They also gave us complimentary nachos with a variety of hot sauces that were quite addictive.
To drink, they had sodas from Mexico, which means they are sweetened with cane sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup. It tastes better than regular Fanta because it doesn’t leave you with a sharp aftertaste.
Latin World is so close to my place that I can’t believe I waited this long to go there. I’ll definitely take advantage of those $1 deals frequently!

Valentine’s Day weekend is coming up. Nash and I don’t really celebrate because there’s always a music festival closely scheduled. As well, my birthday is in February and I could not give a crap about society’s expectations on what we are supposed to be doing on February 14th.
What I do love is Galentine’s Day, a day where girlfriends gather to exchange cute gifts, chocolates, share secrets and destress.
Influenster recently sent me their Bite Voxbox for review. In it were two lipstick samples and matching lip pencils to go with it.
The lip stick colours were Honeycomb, a nude and a darker brown called Whiskey. They both went on very smoothly and the pencils were super sharp to create a fine lip line. I was a bit shaky so I had to do it a couple of times. I love the dark one for a goth look.
I’ve been feeling exhausted lately so I decided to start tracking my sleep again. I used to use Sleep ++, but it required manually starting and stopping your sleep sessions. I’d often forget to turn it off in the morning and it would drain my battery.
AutoSleep is different. It tracks your sleep automatically by detecting when you’re heart rate is lower and there is hardly movement while wearing the watch. It also knows when you are charging your watch so it’ll use the time between phone glances as your sleep time. That way it tracks every day automatically, whether I remember the app or not!
I saw a cool coaster tonight at Wenona Lodge by the #On The Table campaign. This one was by musician and artist Lido Pimienta. I think it’s awesome that they are using art that goes on every table to promote awareness on consent.
