Chefs Plate: Pescado Cubano w/ Rice

I love learning new techniques to cook fish, so I chose the Pescado Cubano recently from Chefs Plate. It was a tilapia dish that was marinated with a spicy kick.

I loved that the rice was also cooked with the spice with peppers. There was a fresh slaw with cilantro, onions and peppers on top of the fish that I also really liked and I cooked my fish perfectly. Now, I feel more confident to buy my own fish from the grocery store and include it more in our diets!

Chefs Plate: Cauliflower Fried Rice & Guacamole Bowl

For my previous Chef’s Plate, I accidentally chose a vegetarian and gluten-free option because I forgot to pick something. It was a Cauliflower Fried Rice & Guacamole Bowl. I thought that all the ingredients they sent us was fresh and vibrant in colour.

I didn’t know you could use Cauliflower heads as a rice replacement and it turned out perfectly. I liked the flavours of the goat cheese and basil pesto. These all made this healthy meal flavourful at every bite.

Hello Kitty Masks

I recently scored a deal on 3 boxes of Hello Kitty masks! I chose Cherry Blossom, Pearl ad Horse Oil.

The packaging on the masks is just so cute and reflects the main ingredient in each mask. Horse oil sounds rather bizarre, but it’s actually a trendy element in Asian products. All 3 of these masks have brightening and moisturizing as its benefit.

I was a tiny bit disappointed that the mask itself wasn’t actually a Hello Kitty face. However, the mask was very wide, almost like Hello Kitty’s face. After each mask, I saw the redness in my face visibly reduced and my skin smoother.

I have so many face masks, but I’m happy to add these into the rotation!

Fenty Unicorn Match Stix

The Fenty collection is irresistible. I can’t resist sparkly things so I had to grab one of the Match Stix.

The packaging is just so minimalistic. Eventually, when I have multiple, they will click together because they are magnetic.

I chose the Unicorn shade to get first because I love purple and always wanted a purple highlighter.

I love the iridescent glow. On certain angles it looks more purple than others, but it has such a lovely shimmer. I know this won’t be my last stick.

Shu Uemura x Super Mario

When Shu Uemura announced their Super Mario Bros collaboration, I literally screamed “TAKE ALL MY MONEY” at my computer. In reality, the individual pieces of the collection are on the pricey side, so I decided to limit myself to 2 items: Peach’s eye and cheek palette and a dual eyeliner. The order also came with free samples.

The packaging right down to the box is cute and has the classic pixelated characters and shiny patterns.

Inside were two sides, a pink and purple palette and a more warm orange and brown one. The blushes were imprinted with the classic stars, mushroom, flower, and block. It also came with a brush that really only seems suitable for the eyeshadows.

I love eyeliner so I couldn’t resist this dual stamp eyeliner.

One side is a regular thin black eyeliner, and the other makes a star!

I tested both out with a simple look, using the pink side of the palette and finished it off with a star on top.

Both the shadow and the eyeliner are long-wearing. The eyeliner doesn’t smudge, so you can fool people into thinking you got a new star tattoo.

So far, I love these two pieces so much, I’m thinking of getting a few more pieces from the collection before it disappears!

Wet n Wild Rainbow Highlighter

I freaked when I found out this Wet n Wild Rainbow Highlighter in Unicorn Glow was back in stock again for Halloween. I found it in this special Halloween display at Shoppers Drugmart. It wasn’t with the regular Wet n’ Wild stuff. At $8, it’s one of

At $8, it’s one of the most affordable rainbow highlighters on the market.

In terms of pigment, I did light swipes for swatches and you can still see each individual pigment. They definitely have sparkle.

I’m a bit obsessed with highlighters at the moment and I am happy to add this one to my collection.

Save the Dates Made!

Now that my sister’s wedding is wrapped up, I’m finally getting mine rolling. It’s only 6 months away and I finally designed Save the Dates thanks to the help of Paperless Post.

They had a library of professionally designed digital cards. I didn’t want to waste paper on sending people paper cards when most people have e-mails and older family members I’ve already verbally told the date.

I ended up choosing a design like this and a fun photo from my sister’s wedding where we caught both the bouquet and the garter. There was a lot of customization options including envelopes, photo filters, fonts and more.

Digital save the dates are also a great way to ask for more information and we’ll be combining this with Postable to build an address book. Paperless Post has this function too, but I enjoyed the layout and functionality of the Postable one a bit better.

I’m so excited to have finally made these and now the countdown clock begins.

Stardust Crepe Cake @ Millie Creperie

I haven’t tried many foods in the latest charcoal craze, but I couldn’t resist the beauty of this Stardust Crepe cake at Millie’s. The presentation looks a little slice of the universe.

Taste wise, it was soft and flaky and melted in my mouth. The charcoal aspect is interesting, though I didn’t find that part stood out. The cake itself was moist in the right bites as each layer had a lovely cream. This was a limited edition cake, so I wonder what future beauties they will create.

I Went Rock Climbing and I Liked It

We climbed some rocks @climbbasecamp

A post shared by Tiana Feng (@tianafeng) on

On Friday, I took the Introductory Climbing Lesson at Basecamp. The package came with 2 weeks of unlimited climbing and I already went back on Thanksgiving Monday.

I don’t do a lot of exercises or physical activity, but I surprisingly enjoyed it. It was challenging, and I definitely felt a bit of pain the next day. However, I’m already excited to go back!

It’s fun, and goals seem measurable. I felt like I lost a lot of anxious energy in the process and felt certain rushes that were a bit addictive. I was frightened to jump off an auto-belay (still am a bit) but the rush of falling on it is alluring.

I’m going to keep going when I can within the two weeks, but I can totally see myself continuing and buying my own gear. Maybe eventually I can lead climb and do real mountains!

SNES Classic Mini

I loved the original Super Nintendo, so I was super excited about the SNES Classic mini. I was lucky enough to get in on a Best Buy pre-order, so I didn’t have to line-up on release date.

It comes pre-loaded with 21 games including the never-before released game Starfox 2.

It’s so small and cute. I placed it beside my Mimikyu and Sailormoon plushies for size comparison.

It fits right into the palm of my hand.

It took me a second to find where to plug controllers. A flap at the front opens up to reveal the slots.

You can easily toggle between the 21 games and any save states. Let’s be real, to play like the old days, there will be no save stating!

I already unlocked Starfox 2 by beating the first level of Starfox (it’s harder than I remember). Now to continue reliving the past and playing through all 21 games!
