I’m going to be somewhat off the grid this weekend (or I don’t know what reception is like). I’m headed to River & Sky Festival which takes place in Field, Ontario (wherever that is). It’s around a 4 hour drive from Toronto, and we headed out bright and early at 6am.
Daily blogging but get a bit hard but I’ll see what my reception can handle! Otherwise, see you on the other side!
Today I learned of Chester Bennington’s passing. I’d fallen out of fandom of Linkin Park as I grew up but when I was in high school albums like Meteora, Hybrid Theory and even Collision Course. Their depressing and lyrics complemented my teenage angst.
I remember excitedly playing the piano melody to “In the End” for everyone in class when it first came out. Whenever I had problems in life I would put on my headphones and blast songs like “Crawling” or “Numb”. These worked whether I was sad about relationships or my parents. It didn’t really matter. I related to the (somewhat suicidal in retrospect) lyrics. It probably gave me life.
It is sad to know that while Chester saved teens like me, he wasn’t able to save himself.
I love Poke, so I’m definitely down to try new places. Poke Wrap is more known for their Sushi Burritos, but I find the concept of those a little weird. Isn’t it just a sushi roll that is uncut?
The good thing is here you can have all the ingredients in a burrito or a bowl. I had the Alaskan bowl which had: White Tuna, Soy Sesame, Creamy Wasabi, Onions, Sesame Seeds, Spring Onions, Corn, Masago, Avocado, White Cabbage, Carrots, Nori. It came together nicely and tasted fresh.
I have a bit of redness on my cheeks and I am not sure what causes it. I’ve been trying to find a product that would minimize it and not just hide it like a BB cream would. I picked this Red Blemish Soothing Ampoule.
I’ve been using it like a serum after washing and toning. I don’t find that it helps my cheek redness that much but what it does do is make any blemishes or sudden acne disappear almost overnight. Maybe I got lost in translation. At least this works for something!
I tore my previous iPhone 7 Plus Gameboy Case. I took the opportunity to buy a new one on eBay. I always loved the Pokémon Gameboy Colour from the 90s and I thought that would be the perfect look.
I saw Spotify superstar Saya at The Drake on Thursday. Full review on Ride the Tempo! Shot the photos with my Fujifilm. I still use it just as much as my DSLR because it’s so handy if I’m out and about!
I’m always excited to qualify for Influenster trials! Most recently, I was sent a complimentary Mega Mutliplier Mascara from Revlon.
Since I’m Asian, I have thin and relatively short eyelashes, so I’m always up for trying new mascaras. This particular mascara has 360 degree tubes that extend lashes for volume and length. I don’t tend to curl my eyelashes (because I’m scared of pulling the few I have out) but this drugstore mascara did a great job of making it appear like I have natural lashes.
It isn’t extremely dramatic but it feels natural. Adding this to my daily rotation of mascaras.
During my Sunday in Quebec City, I stopped by a local burgery (is that a word?) named Les Trois Garçons for lunch. I ordered a burger called Les Charlevoix with double AAA ground beef paties, 1608 and Hercule cheese from Charlevoix, fried and carmelized onions, artisanal bacon and a bourbon BBQ sauce which was so tasty. This burger was perfect and juicy.
I had a drink called The Canadian and it was kind of like an old fashioned with a hint of maple syrup.
There were around 15 burgers on the menu but I only had time to try the one. Guess I’ll have to make it back to Quebec sometime!
