Battling Sausages

Yesterday, I learned from Buzzfeed that there’s a game where you battle sausages, yes you heard that right SAUSAGES. After learning about it’s existence, how could we not try it?

It was actually a lot more fun and weirdly strategic than we thought. It’s also strangely culturally inclusive. There’s sausages from all over the world including the Chinese lap cheung and ones I haven’t even heard of before. They even go at lengths to explain what the sausage is. Each one has special stats and advantages.

The game is weird but bound to be a laugh.

Snapchat > Vlogging

IMG_4013

It’s been a while since I vlogged on Youtube. With a busy life, it can be a hassle to film footage, dump the footage, edit the footage etc everyday. I fell in love with Snapchat because I can still capture and share these moments with people who wish to follow. It’s easy because all you have to do is focus on the capturing. Putting together the stories is done for you, showing snips of your day which is basically like vlogging. I wasn’t really making money on Youtube so the lack of monetization doesn’t really affect me.

Another bonus is that it’s not like up on the internet forever so you can share those funny moments without feeling too embarrassed about it later. Sometimes I consider deleting my old vlogs.

Anyways, I’m at Field Trip this weekend snapping and you can find me @tianafeng.

Magic Mouse 2

DSCF9961

To edit photos more efficiently and prevent myself from using the touchpad all the time, I bought myself the Apple Magic Mouse!

DSCF9965

I love it because it’s super simple and cordless. All I had to do to set it up was plug it in for like less than 30 seconds. The battery lasts super long. (It has only lost 2% since I first bought it on Saturday).

The best feature of it is the gestures. I can swipe between pages and windows and instead of a wheel swipe up and down to scroll. There are also plenty of third party programs to customize things further.

It’s weird but the one thing I’m not totally used to is making mouse clicking noises again! I never clicked on my trackpad. I think I can fix that with a third party tool though so I will keep you updated on which one I choose.

A Cautionary Tale

To celebrate surviving some crazy weeks, I decided to head to my local ice creamery for a treat. I loaded up two scoops on a sugar cone. Being me of course, I just HAD to take a Snapchat of my treat.

However, in not paying attention to physics and trying to get the prettiest angle, I accidentally tipped the entire thing too much to the side and this happened:
IMG_3829

I dropped my entire ice cream on the ground. I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry or stare at the cashier in horror. Dropping your ice cream on the ground right after you bought it is literally the saddest/most movie-like moment you could possibly have.

Luckily, the lady at Lansdowne Cone was nice enough to offer me two new scoops and gave it to me in a cup so that I would not drop it again. I thanked her and as my face flushed red quickly exited. Tales like this are hilarious once I think back and look at them. Not too long ago I would have probably just cried at the clutz I was. Now, I just turn them around into funny stories and can laugh at myself. Social media helps with that because people seem to really enjoy self-deprecating humour, particularly ones that genuinely happen (though in this case it also caused the problem). I’m not so hard on myself anymore.

Today I went to get ice cream again and this time I was more aware at how I was holding my ice cream and success! THERE YOU GO AN INSTAGRAM:

Get to Zero

Today marks one year since my cousin made Get to Zero, a free smartphone puzzle available for iOS, Android and starting today, Amazon. It’s a very addictive game for those who like math, and easy games on the go.

Lumino City

Lumino City – Official Trailer from State of Play on Vimeo.

I’m terrible at completing games, but I finished Lumino City recently. I enjoyed that it auto-saved my progress so that I never had to commit time to making check points. I could play it within any free time I had which fit well into my busy schedule.

The world of Lumino City is adorable and beautiful, made with handmaid paper crafts, lights and motors. It’s an adventure game where you find clues and solve puzzles. I downloaded it on my Mac but it’s also conveniently available on phones and tablets. The piano-based music was calm and peaceful. I’m looking for more games to play that deliver the same level of satisfaction!

Drake is a meme once again! And now you can make him sit on any photo with the Drake’s Views site. I thought I’d enhance a few of my selfies. I can’t help but think he did this on purpose to allow people to make fun of him once again.

RIP Prince

I was shocked when I found out Prince died. News travels fast when you live your day through social media. It was surreal. First people were tweeting that someone at Prince’s studio had died. Then TMZ tweeted it was Prince. Everyone wished they were wrong, even though they were right in the past about other legends.

Then the Associated Press tweeted.

We couldn’t deny it was true any longer. I can’t believe 2016 has been a brutal year for music legends.

Movement Goals

IMG_3607

One of the biggest benefits personally from the Apple Watch is the Activity app which encourages me to move more each day.

IMG_3608

I set a modest goal, the app suggests readjustments when you beat/fail goals. Right now it’s at around 200 calories. That doesn’t seem like much but the watch does not measure the calories you burn by just living. They take into account your body, movement and heart rate to figure out active calories for the movement app. 220 is a modest amount because on days where I’m super lazy I embarrassingly don’t make it. It’s encouraged me to do more walking and taking stairs instead of escalators.

IMG_3609

Another part to it is this Exercise ring. It tracks any strenuous activity (again based on heart rate I think). I don’t always exercise but I do a lot of fast walking that happens to fill this ring. On days where I feel like I have some movement to catch up on I do the 7 minute workout.

IMG_3610

One thing we often don’t take into account is how much time we spent sitting each day. The activity app has goals for how many hours you’ve stood at least a minute. It seems like an easy goal to make but I often get reminded at the 50 minute mark that I’ve been siting for too long.

I don’t think these small changes will shed any visible weight (not that I need to) but it’s always healthy to find ways to encourage movement and I love that I have these little goals and reminders.

Miitomo

IMG_3576

Over the weekend, I finally downloaded Miitomo, the weird free social game by Nintendo. Here’s what my character looks like!

IMG_3575

The concept of the game is a little bit weird, but I have a lot of friends to interact with on it already. The premise seems to be to answer strange questions that are automatically posed to you by the game and read your friend’s answer to the questions.

IMG_3589

You gain coins for answering or reading questions and they can be used for buying outfits for your character. There are tons to choose from and new sets every day.

IMG_3577

The best part of the game is the photo creator. You can insert photos from your Camera Roll to make some hilarious creations. Nash’s friends have even created a Tumblr full of Mii album covers already! If you have Miitomo you can add me by following me on Twitter @tianafeng.
