100+ Simpsons Books Collected So Far

Last month, I started a random Tumblr that collects books seen on the Simpsons. Ever since I started doing this, every episode has at least one, either a real, parody or books you wish existed. I’ve already posted over 100.

Here are a few of my favourites:

Describe Yourself in 3 Fictional Characters

A few days ago, everyone was doing this:

I compared myself to these 3 stars of their respective shows. Anxiety makes me feel like someone is watching my life like a TV show and hey I am the star of my own blog.

Anyway, I always related to Serena from Sailor Moon. She’s a clutz, so am I. No matter how hard I try, I always have the stupidest stuff happen to me. For example my toilet exploding, or tripping over a mop I put somewhere two seconds ago. Despite this, Serena is the main hero of the show, a princess, someone important and she doesn’t let her funnier side get in the way of that.

Pikachu is the rebellious one. He chooses not to follow the status quo and remain in his Pokeball. He has the most personality out of all the Pokemon on the show. Also he has cheek dimples and I do too.

Lastly, Daria is quite cynical, introverted and smart and often called “the brain” in school. That is the story of my entire public school life.

There you have it. The amalgamation of these 3 characters make me.

Why Is Everyone Liking My Old Tweet?

52 days ago when I was at Sappy, I bought a hat and tweeted this:

Today I saw it blow up for some reason for many hours. I was very confused considering it was an old tweet. I started to wonder if I ended up on Reddit or a post on Mashable or something. So I did what most people would do: I Googled it.

I then found out I am part of this Twitter moment called “What do you look like?” that is on the first page of the Moments tab on the app.

I’m not sure why I’m on there but at least the mystery of where the Likes came from is solved! Moments are an interesting feature that shows tweets from trending topics or events in one place.

Longform Journalism is Still Interesting

I read the most gripping news story last night and it was written by Buzzfeed.

As we morn the death of Gawker, it’s important to realize that journalism (especially alternative journalism) is still important. We’re living in a world where the person with the highest pocketbooks get to dictate the message.

The younger generations have created sites like Buzzfeed, Vice etc to share the important stories, while also monetizing the site effectively with memes and lists. Both have their share of cringe-worthy posts but they are also delivering pieces that wouldn’t have been written or discussed anywhere else in the same way. They’re asking the tough questions and challenging what is not being said elsewhere.

But still it’s scary that someone could maybe come along and decide their fate.

Live Tweeting the SOCAN Awards

Doing some live tweeting tonight! Follow along. We’re currently the #2 trending hashtag in Canada behind the #TheBachelorette and an Ontario Storm of some sort.

Snapchat > Vlogging

IMG_4013

It’s been a while since I vlogged on Youtube. With a busy life, it can be a hassle to film footage, dump the footage, edit the footage etc everyday. I fell in love with Snapchat because I can still capture and share these moments with people who wish to follow. It’s easy because all you have to do is focus on the capturing. Putting together the stories is done for you, showing snips of your day which is basically like vlogging. I wasn’t really making money on Youtube so the lack of monetization doesn’t really affect me.

Another bonus is that it’s not like up on the internet forever so you can share those funny moments without feeling too embarrassed about it later. Sometimes I consider deleting my old vlogs.

Anyways, I’m at Field Trip this weekend snapping and you can find me @tianafeng.

A Cautionary Tale

To celebrate surviving some crazy weeks, I decided to head to my local ice creamery for a treat. I loaded up two scoops on a sugar cone. Being me of course, I just HAD to take a Snapchat of my treat.

However, in not paying attention to physics and trying to get the prettiest angle, I accidentally tipped the entire thing too much to the side and this happened:

I dropped my entire ice cream on the ground. I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry or stare at the cashier in horror. Dropping your ice cream on the ground right after you bought it is literally the saddest/most movie-like moment you could possibly have.

Luckily, the lady at Lansdowne Cone was nice enough to offer me two new scoops and gave it to me in a cup so that I would not drop it again. I thanked her and as my face flushed red quickly exited. Tales like this are hilarious once I think back and look at them. Not too long ago I would have probably just cried at the clutz I was. Now, I just turn them around into funny stories and can laugh at myself. Social media helps with that because people seem to really enjoy self-deprecating humour, particularly ones that genuinely happen (though in this case it also caused the problem). I’m not so hard on myself anymore.

Today I went to get ice cream again and this time I was more aware at how I was holding my ice cream and success! THERE YOU GO AN INSTAGRAM:

Drake is a meme once again! And now you can make him sit on any photo with the Drake’s Views site. I thought I’d enhance a few of my selfies. I can’t help but think he did this on purpose to allow people to make fun of him once again.

RIP Prince

I was shocked when I found out Prince died. News travels fast when you live your day through social media. It was surreal. First people were tweeting that someone at Prince’s studio had died. Then TMZ tweeted it was Prince. Everyone wished they were wrong, even though they were right in the past about other legends.

Then the Associated Press tweeted.

We couldn’t deny it was true any longer. I can’t believe 2016 has been a brutal year for music legends.

Miitomo

IMG_3576

Over the weekend, I finally downloaded Miitomo, the weird free social game by Nintendo. Here’s what my character looks like!

IMG_3575

The concept of the game is a little bit weird, but I have a lot of friends to interact with on it already. The premise seems to be to answer strange questions that are automatically posed to you by the game and read your friend’s answer to the questions.

You gain coins for answering or reading questions and they can be used for buying outfits for your character. There are tons to choose from and new sets every day.

The best part of the game is the photo creator. You can insert photos from your Camera Roll to make some hilarious creations. Nash’s friends have even created a Tumblr full of Mii album covers already! If you have Miitomo you can add me by following me on Twitter @tianafeng.
