Dead for real now #crjprom

I’ve had such a crazy week. First there was Saturday’s #CRJProm. Then coincidentally on Monday night, I had to work our awards show and I ended up have a second to chat with her about Saturday, our party, and the karaoke afterparty. She was so nice and thought our whole adventure was adorable.

So yeah, your dreams can come true, even accidentally.

Making the Most of the Night at #CRJProm

Last night, my friends and I had front row tickets to see Carly Rae Jepsen play with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Before the show, we dressed up and had a mini prom party at a friend’s house. It was a fun surprise when we found out CRJ noticed our prom party and actually shared it with all her followers.

I’m still freaking out about this hahaha.

The show itself was pure joy. It was cool to see the Toronto Symphony Orchestra do arrangements of her biggest hits. We had a moment during “Call Me Maybe” where she sang directly to us in the front row for a moment. The way performs with huge smiles and a positive attitude stole all our hearts. We couldn’t resist getting up to dance, which is probably abnormal for normal orchestra concerts.

These pop-orchestra crossovers hopefully encourage younger people to go see the TSO. Back when I was in choir, we performed the entire Mozart’s Requiem with the TSO. It was a lot of hard work, but it was one of the coolest experiences.

Anyways, after the CRJ concert, we topped it off by heading to The Abbey for karaoke. They only had a few Carly songs but by the end of the night, we treated the entire bar to all of them. #CRJprom was perfect.

UPDATE: I MET HER 3 DAYS LATER

When old things are cool again

I was looking in the closets of my old drawers that are at my parent’s house and it was fun to find a bunch of Pokémon things. It amazes me that something of our childhood 20 years ago has lasted so long and not really gone away.

I wonder if whenever I have children, I can pass on the Pokémon love and that it would still be relevant.

I said yes to a dress!

Yesterday, my sister and I had a double wedding dress appointment at David’s Bridal. I had an idea of what I wanted, and a Vera Wang dress I bookmarked hoping to try on. However, I realized 10 minutes in that their display didn’t have it.

We leafed through dresses and I gave the stylist a list of things I wanted and didn’t want. The moment I tried on an Oleg Cassini with a lot of lace details, I was in love. It was in the higher range of what I was looking to spend, but no other dress I tried on could compare to the feeling of how I felt in it, and how my mom and sister thought it looked on me as well. I said yes to the dress and now I can’t wait to walk down the aisle with it and see what Nash thinks!

Now wedding planning seems a bit more real and my head is reeling with all the things I need to do next.

Sometimes you just need to pet a dog

Having pets does totally calm me down when I’m anxious. It’s nice to have had an extended weekend with the family, where I could spend more time with Teddy.

Happy 6th Birthday Teddy!

I can’t believe Teddy turns 6 this year. He’s essentially grown up with this blog.

Though he lives in the suburbs with my parents and I’m downtown, I love that our family had our lives change for the better because of this little fluff ball. There’s no love as positive as that of a dog each time they see you.

Friday Off

I have Fridays off for the rest of summer. I have to make up the time for the rest of the week by working longer days but it’s worth it. It’s nice to have an extra day to catch up on sleep, chores, life.

I’m going to go hang out with a friend I haven’t seen in a long time and try to spend less time on the computer.

Too much rain

Here in Toronto it has been raining a little too much lately. Our island is flooded and there were even shows that got rescheduled or rained out due to water levels.

Anyways I thought I would counter the rain with a photo of Teddy who clearly enjoys the sun. So won’t it be sunny for him?

My Bridesmaids Said Yes!

I haven’t planned too much of my wedding besides the date, but I thought the next step was to ask my bridesmaids. I decided on a wedding party of 3. My maid of honour is my best friend from the East Coast. My other bridesmaids are my sister and a longtime friend.

I had no doubt on who I wanted in my wedding party. One was a family of course, but the other two were people who no matter where they go in the world, when we’re together it’s like we were never apart. It takes a special bond to feel that way and I know I want them with me on my special day.

How did I ask? I got everyone special bridesmaid cards (they are hard to find) and also bought matching rose gold earrings from Pandora. Nash and I are contemplating a light orange and pale purple theme, so they fit with whatever outfits!

I can’t wait to continue planning even though I don’t know where to start!

“Get Help” and Helpful Links

Today, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden passed away because of reasons you can look up yourself.

In short, he took his own life. Afterward, I’ve seen too many people post things along of “Get Help” and insert some random link to a hotline. I know everyone means well but from personal experience as an OCD depressive person, I can tell you now that none of that shit helps. Often people who are down don’t know they need help or don’t think they deserve it in the first place.

You will not likely change someone who is down in the dumps’ life for posting that stuff. What is more valuable is taking the time to reach out to those you personally know who might be suffering and showing you truly care. Don’t just fight the stigma of mental illness. Fight the fact that you have to survive it alone.
