Awesome Note for the iPad

If you’re a notebook addict like me, you might be interested in some of the options available for the iPad. My favourite is Awesome Note by Bridsworks. It goes for $4.99 in the iTunes App Store, but it’s worth every penny.

There are a bunch of free options for notebooks available in the app store but the functions on this one aren’t really comparable. I love the colourful folders and themes available for each page. They are also constantly updating it with more features. There are different types of notes where you can add photos, text, send to friends, add links. There is a calendar where you can keep track of when you wrote what, or did what. And if you don’t want someone to read something, you can add a password-locked diary. It’s a fully functioning notebook that can probably replace all the notebooks a notebook addict has at home.

However, I still prefer to touch actual books.

We’ve Come A Long Way From Geocities

Yesterday I was on my Smartphone writing a blog post on my phone and I thought to myself, Man, we’ve come a long way from Geocities Page Builder.

Dude, I remember the existence of Netscape and Dial-Up internet. Now I have the EXTREME ULTIMATE whatever internet package from Rogers. Maximum speed, maximum bandwidth. Oh, and now, a smartphone and an iPad. What more can a girl addicted to the internet ask for?

Finally Trashing the Unsmart Phone

Cleopatra’s Pyramid Review

I have a ton of apps like App Shopper that notify me when there’s new free apps available. One of the one’s I got through this was Cleopatra’s Pyramid. The game, though free, actually does eventually come at a price, but you don’t realize this until you have played through some levels.

Relationships in the Social Media Age

My best friend and I are both in somewhat new relationships and we have discussions on whether or not we should keep it private in the online world. I have to admit that I made things Facebook official with Nash the moment we started dating. The world knowing wasn’t a problem for us.

I think part of my desire to do this however stemmed from my past relationship with someone who was kind of deviant when it came to online activity. He would hide our relationship, flirt and cheat with girls he had met online. This is the negative aspect of relationships in the social media age. There are just terrible people out there. And the internet only makes cheating easier.

My best friend decided to not make her relationship Facebook Official and she was right to do so. It should be a private affair between two people, and the world doesn’t necessarily need to know, only those you both wish to tell. In addition, If you have any doubt of trust in someone, than you shouldn’t be together in the first place. The people who will cheat online would cheat in real life too.

Everyone doesn’t need to know the second you date, or end a relationship. We all know those people who change their statuses way too often for attention. It’s all personal preference, but not a necessity to decide to make things public.

The more I think about it now, I trust Nash with all my heart and although we’re both highly active in our own online outlets, I know I have nothing to worry about. Whether or not the world knows, shouldn’t affect us either way. We know how important we are to one another.

Lost In the Apple Store

Last week was the first time I bought something directly from the Apple Store. Sure I own Apple products: the iPad, countless iPods but I was lucky enough to have been gifted them or have gone to Future Shop.

It was Black Friday and I wanted to buy my sister a Nano and perhaps Apple TV for the parents. However, I felt quite lost and confused. Not to mention clusterphobic.

The Evolution of Useful Things

I love reading and I tend to read a lot of non-fiction among fiction. I also have a fascination with cognitive science, the human mind and why things happen. So naturally when I stumbled on Henry Petroski’s The Evolution of Useful Things it was quite intriguing.

The book dove into the fascinating world of how normal household items became the way they are today. He talked about such things as forks, pins, paper clips and zippers which we don’t normally think much about. There’s even parts on pop cans and the wrapper for your McDonald hamburgers.

Pig Rockets For iPad Review

Here’s another review of a game I have beaten (so I can finally free up some space on my 16GB iPad). I originally downloaded this game via one of those daily “free app” apps. Currently Pig Rockets is $1.99 in the App store. It works on all iOS devices.

The game is kind of a mixture between Tetris and a Tower Defense game. The objective of the game is to use blocks (which are in the form of Tetris pieces) to prevent pigs from hitting your house/property. Whenever a pig hits a brick, it disappears and turns into bacon which you can use to save up for helpful power-ups in the store. You unlock new levels by lasting a certain amount of waves on the previous one.
