Here’s an update on my Wreck This Journal journey. For some reason I made a Tumblr of this and so far the responses have been good and I keep getting reblogged for some reason.
Gourmet Food and Wine Expo 2011 Review
Thanks to Lisa from Turn the Record Over, I won tickets to opening night of the Gourmet Food and Wine Expo.
I went for the food since I’m not much of a wine-o. How the expo works is there is an entrance ticket (which I won) and you must purchase sample tickets to try things. From what I saw yeseterday, tastings of food and wine cost anything from 1-8 tickets. Tickets are worth $1 each. Between me and Nash we had $40 worth, which was more than enough to get full off food and have enough for a couple of drinks.
Blogging to Fill the Void
Yesterday I read a really interesting article on Behyped on why you should start a blog while unemployed. I recently entered this mysterious realm myself. And it’s scary.
I’ve been in school for what seemed like forever (elementary, highschool, University, and the Entertainment program at Metalworks). Being finally out is sort of frightening as I try to figure out how to find employment in an exciting yet highly competitive industry. I however find myself more and more addicted to blogging as a strange way to cope with doing nothing.

Do You Put the Tea Bag In Before or After?

When you are making tea, do you put the tea bag in before or after you pour the hot water? Just a curious question. Maybe you do it differently every time, that’s plausible too. I’m a tiny bit OCD so I have always put the tea bag in before.
I think I do this because I like a strong tasting tea and putting it allows the water to hit the bag and for the tea to saturate water more. Whereas if I put it in after I would have to move the bag up and down in the water or poke at it with a spoon to get the same effect.
A thing you may or may not know about me is I have a weird interest in cognitive science and how minds work. So naturally, I did some random research on the topic and summarized all the similar findings. Here is what your tea making techniques might say about your personality:

Wreck This Journal #1

I bought Keri Smith’s Wreck This Journal almost 2 years ago with my best friend who also has one. We were supposed to trade when we were done. I found it again recently and wondered why I had not finished it. At first I thought that maybe I had no time, but the truth is.. I’m pretty OCD about notebooks. Despite the title of this journal, it actually hurt me a little at the thought of wrecking my notebooks. As you know, I LOVE to collect notebooks, many of which are empty and wrecking this one was like a nerd opening a mint condition collectible and stepping on it. However, I’ve set a new goal for myself.. I’m going to finish this thing by the end of this year. It will be an adventure, and I’ll blog about my progress.
12 Life Lessons I Learned From My Puppy

Puppies are such peculiar animals and I never realized they truly do change the quality of lifeMy parents seem like much more relaxed since we got him and he is totally a mini bundle of joy to us. We got him at 4 weeks old, and damn he’s smart and crafty. I took note of some observations of things he’s learned, and I could really learn from him too. Here are 10 Life Lessons I learned from my puppy:
Adventures in Dream Journaling
For the past few weeks, I have been trying to write down or draw anything I could remember from my dreams in one of my Moleskine notebooks. I was semi-inspired to do this when my boyfriend started a Tumblr of literal visual representations of his dreams. I started off including the dates, but then I stopped for some reason and found it wasn’t really a necessary part of the journaling. I’m not sure what I expected to get from this but it will be something I will continue.. until I fill this Moleskine at least.
How to Avoid Carpal Tunnel as a Musician

I’ve been a musician all my life, but I didn’t start to have problems until I started hard 4 hour practicing when I was in university. At the end of my university journey I was experiencing pains in my middle finger and wrists. All those nights practicing passages and octaves 100 times had put a tole to the health of my limbs. I’ve done some therapy and research, and here are some tricks I have been using to prevent some of the pain of repetitive activities. Most of these can be applied if you spend too much time on the computer as well.
Too Many Subscriptions

As you may or may not know, I LOVE my social networks. I’m on pretty much everything that anybody actually uses and I actually try to actively keep up with them. If I follow or list you on Twitter, I read about 75% of tweets that go through my timelines. Now with this Facebook timeline thing, I’m sort of doing the same on Facebook as well. I’m pretty much up to date on everything, so much that if you were to ever show me a new meme, I’ve probably already seen it hours or even days ago.
